Membership List Leak – A Response

It is unfortunate that a response has to be made regarding the disgusting accusations emanating from the lie filled mouth of Nick Griffin, yet in order to set the record straight we feel that a response is indeed necessary.

Firstly we would like to point out that the publication of the BNP membership list is a treacherous act which will have repercussions for the entire Party and nationalism in general. Whoever has done this should be utterly ashamed of their spiteful actions. Whatever the reasons for the publication of the list, ordinary BNP members should not have to suffer because of the crass incompetence, flawed personality and arrogance of the Party Leader.

The BNP website carries an “urgent update” from the BNP leader, Nick Griffin. This update blatantly accuses those involved in the December 2007 dispute, which had its source concern expressed by several leading Party members and senior officials over the disgraceful protection by the Chairman of two individuals who had brought and continue to bring the Party into disrepute and heap embarrassment through their incompetence, immaturity and selfish behaviour. Griffin, a man who like so many contemptible politicians can be detected lying when his mouth open’s hardly conceals his ill-founded and thoroughly false suspicions that Kenny Smith, the previous Head of Administration, of being responsible for the publication. This is a disgrace and a downright lie. None of the six people involved in the April 2007 court case want to see the BNP suffer at all. Moreover, they certainly do not want to see the thoroughly decent members and activists suffer at the hands of filthy communist scum. Seeing Nick Griffin get his deserved comeuppance is one thing, harming the Party is completely different. Neither Kenny Smith, nor any of the other co-defendants who Griffin and Darby took to court leaked/published the database.

Nick Griffin has clearly landed himself in very hot water by alleging that the publication of the list proves ‘Contempt of Court’. He says that the web host’s legal department has been contacted by the BNP and that the BNP are liaising with their solicitors about how to use this against the six defendants in the ongoing court action.
We would dearly like to see the BNP find out who did this and we would like to see them brought to book. When the real culprit is found we will be expecting a full public apology from Griffin, with damages for the smearing of our names.

In reality, the publication of the membership lists simply shows the contempt in which Griffin holds the BNP membership. By allowing gross inefficiencies in BNP departments (which was the main reason behind the December crisis whereby sickened national officials could not take any more incompetence from two departments and were sacked for speaking out) Griffin is to blame. The fact that up to a dozen (possibly more?) people may have, or have had a full database is bad enough when the database is the BNP’s prize asset. However, the real problem is that Nick Griffin has such a terrible record for falling out with senior BNP officials who criticise him in any way that the list of his enemies is seemingly endless. Because of the way in which Griffin treats those who have given their all for the BNP, he creates a rod for his own back in that some people (in this case misguidedly) may do things which damage the BNP in an attempt to attack Griffin himself.

Further, the rather arrogant way in which the BNP web team and Griffin himself dismiss the membership leak as ‘a publicity bonus’ is truly shocking when you consider that many members and activists with a sensitive job have now been exposed to violent communist bully boys and their backers at Searchlight and UAF. We have already had calls from people who have had such threatening calls and our sympathies go out to them. For Griffin to brush this off, and to wrongly claim that ‘former employees’ were to blame is beneath contempt. Griffin has once again shown just how little he really thinks of the everyday BNP member.

We suggest that the Party Chairman:

1.) Immediately apologises to the six court defendants (who have never been found guilty of anything despite the malicious Griffin/Darby prosecution) and to Kenny Smith in particular.

2.) Actually contacts Dyfed-Powys Police rather than just pretending so, in order to start the ball rolling as to who did actually leak the list.

3.) Actually contacts the web host’s legal department and gets them to shut down the offending websites.

4.) Starts to act in the interests of the members and not operate once more in a zone of self-survival which leads to utter contempt for the feelings of the average BNP member.

Could this become an addition to the Oxford Dictionary in the future?

Griffin’s Great 2008 RWB Hangover

We have received a large amount of information from our supporters and campaign team over the past few days. In order to keep this article within a manageable length we will only stick to what we know to be the facts.

The silent bomb blast – (that you were never supposed to know about)

Firstly, we can once again verify that there was an attack on the main gate area of the RWB site in the early hours of Friday morning. Our reliable sources reported to us that this attack involved something "very loud indeed" followed by intense police activity around the area of the front gate .

The Party, media and police have remained eerily silent about this incident, even with one of Griffin’s attack blogs – Covert Undercover Nuisance Tactics – hurriedly back-peddling on a earlier semi-literate report about it with an equally hastily prepared story posted a couple of hours later at the behest of a seething-mad Griffin, worried that members would not attend the RWB because of it and potentially leading to the Party becoming "bankrupted" as he put it himself.

Quite how the membership is supposed to believe that a bomb throwing extremist, can within a few hours be written off as simply an exuberant local youth at play at 3.50am, baffles the imagination.

Vital information withheld?

The full truth surrounding this incident will hopefully be released in the fullness of time, but meanwhile two things we at Challenge for Leadership are hoping for -

Firstly, that there is indeed an ongoing police investigation that will lead to the cowardly culprits being apprehended soon to face proper justice.

Secondly, that Griffin has not put money before the welfare of the membership by withholding vital information that could have put more lives at risk over the weekend.

Would not planning, professionalism, reassurance and honesty have been a far better way of dealing with such a threat and adversity?

What will happen in the future should our Party face such a situation again?

Should we all just simply rely on Griffin to use his ‘Truth-JCB’ once again to push the things he deems as unhelpful to his aims all under the carpet that now also include major security issues?

Maybe next year he could sell lucky rabbit’s feet on the gate in place of risk assessments; he’d be able to make a few quid at the same time then?

Gambles and sleepless nights

One has to ask this question: Why did various factions of the far-left pay so much attention to the RWB this year, when in the past their efforts have been negligible to non-existent in the peak years in Sawley and last year in Denby?

It is our belief that they were simply taking advantage of the situation that has been effectively handed to them on a plate. With Griffin’s popularity at a critically low level, the Party purged of most of its valuable and effective officers, and with the Party coffers running at almost empty, they have simply seen the Party’s chin exposed and have tried to place a well aimed knock-out blow.

Staging the RWB requires a huge inward investment that will always be a gamble to some degree or another; that gamble this year was truly vast and Griffin experienced many a sleepless night in the run up to it.

Unwashed - but not entirely stupid

The tactic of the far-left was quite a simple one, prevent or deter people from accessing the RWB site. With each car that they could turn home, goes with it at least £30 out of Griffin’s pocket, plus of course all the food and donation money that individual branches would also lose. This tactic would not usually work as nationalist people are generally a lot tougher than most and it would normally take a lot more than far-left intimidation, threats and a protest march to stop them.

‘Reds’ and the Boys in Blue

However, as already mentioned, a great many members have already lost or are losing their belief in Griffin’s bitter version of the BNP, and some people only needed one minor excuse not to attend what many have now come to see as simply a weekend of Griffin-worship and affirmation to Griffinism. Being presented with a mob of abuse-hurling morons, and lines of police; some in full riot gear batons drawn, could just have presented that very excuse needed.

Old chestnuts - The media trap

A great many of the red-bloodied membership present would also have wanted the opportunity to teach these idiots, largely made up of middle-class spoilt-brat teenagers, a good clip around the ear and sent scurrying off to bed with their tails between their legs. The sight of these idiots playing silly buggers in the road with the police was really quite pathetic.

However, they knew only too well that it only needed a group of BNP father-members who had wives and children to leave the site and issue out some ‘old fashioned justice’ to them in front of the media and police and they would have been straight down the cells and all over the national papers with headlines such as ‘BNP thugs arrested in street battleground' or 'Locals run for cover as BNP cause riot' etc.

Bearing in mind that a large number of the males in attendance were wearing camo/combat type clothing and boots, would have resulted in tremendous long term damage for the Party in the eyes of the public as selected pictures and footage found their way onto the TV that night. Bear in mind also some of these silly extremist kids are quite willing to take a beating to achieve this in order to impress their communist/anarchist peers back home about how they ‘Got Fascists arrested’ etc.

Unless we can guarantee we will not be seeing a repeat of this entirely unnecessary situation, next year's RWB is likely to be held in a phone-box in Welshpool surrounded by 400 riot police.

Griffin’s BNP- A moderate and professional organisation?

I predict that Griffin will act as he always does ultimately resulting in a series of poorly thought-out knee-jerk reactions. He will now plough a quantity of the precious money the Party has left into hiring even more security men, various security ‘experts’ and all manner of bizarre ‘spy-equipment’ to try and combat the ‘enemies of nationalism’.

In his desperation he is also bound to lose sight of the fact that quality is far better than quantity when in comes to political party security. The desperate act of flooding the Party security department with all manner of cash on the day untrained ‘heavies’ and dinosaurs straight out of the cast of the film ‘Romper Stomper’ will not reduce the risk to the membership; it will in fact increase it.

Having these guys, however brave they may be, standing in a line outside the site gates last Saturday just gave the far-left protest something to scream at and served no purpose at all except to give the media somewhere else to point their cameras. This was simply an act of brash and bravado and not the behaviour of anything even remotely like that of a moderate and professional organisation. Then again, where have we heard this before in Griffin’s version of the BNP?

Our damaged heart

The resources we have left should be far more wisely spent on rebuilding the damaged heart that lies within the membership, and giving us back a party that they once again truly believe is worth fighting for. The far-left would then fade away, starved of their belief in being able to break us so easily. Unless Griffin is removed, his greed, arrogance and ultimately self-destructive nature will keep us hobbling along in the political shadow of the Liberal-Labour-Tory Establishment as nothing more than a joke, and minor irritation to it; Griffinism is simply crippling us.

A picture speaks a thousand words – but where are the 4,000 attendees?

Not surprisingly, the Griffin propaganda machine has gone into overdrive and grossly exaggerated figures of the total attendance have been bounced around. At the highest and busiest point of the weekend, which was the much anticipated EGM, around 250 people where present or nearby, and the total number of people that passed through the gate was in fact no more than 1,500, and the great roll of cash that Griffin hoped to make this year, has simply failed to materialise.

(Since writing this article, we have been contacted by several members that attended to say that we are being far too generous with a figure of 1,500 and that way less than a 1,000 attended all weekend with areas of the site at times virtually deserted).

Does the Party leadership honestly think that such gross exaggerations about attendance will go unnoticed by those that were actually there? We know that since the heady days of the old RWB’s at the Sawley site, attendance has been falling and further misleading figures will not help matters.

An honest grass-roots assessment and report of the weekend presented to the membership would have served as a refreshing breath of air and encourage people within the membership to come forward and offer greater support in the future; from this point there can be only growth. Spin and manipulation will only create more holes for people to fall through. As we have said time and time again; the membership are not stupid Mr Griffin.

So where did the RWB atmosphere disappear to Nick?

It has been widely reported that the key ingredient was missing from this year's RWB, an ingredient so important that without it there is no spark, no camaraderie and little feeling of brotherhood around the site. It comes as no surprise to comment on the fact that a Party whose leader uses proscription and illegal expulsion as a weapon to silence his internal critics, has bled the BNP dry of its most precious resource, comradeship - a feeling of bonding against a common foe.

Tea’s-up! (50p)

It has also been reported to us that Griffin himself relieved Chris Vanns – now ex-BNP catering, of his services prior to the RWB and then set-up two food stalls for himself. For years Chris ploughed thousands of pounds and weeks of his own time into previous RWB’s only now to have it thrown back in his face.

Griffin’s greed even penetrated further into other branch and regional stalls this year with Griffin storming into Richard Barnbrook's London Stall to demand that that he should increase the price of the cups of tea Richard was selling from 50p to £1 because Griffin was loosing customers and to squeeze more money out of the hard-pressed membership!

The fee that Griffin charged each of the regions to pitch their stall at the RWB also did not go down very well with the membership, many of whom were genuinely shocked at being told they would face yet another Griffin-tax. One member contacted us and expressed, in no uncertain terms, his disgust at this act of blatant money grabbing..

Griffin’s ‘Truth’ Truck – under guard

It is interesting why, with a field supposedly full to the brim with his ‘doting and contented membership’, did Griffin feel it necessary to park his latest fad, not in the main arena so people could marvel at it (after all they paid for it), but right next to the security tent on a separate part of the site under 24 hr guard for the entire weekend.

Was it merely the risk of ‘Reds’ invading the site in the dead of night that would have stimulated his paranoia to such a level? That being the case of course, wouldn’t moving tents or caravans that had children in them next to the security area be more of a priority for him than looking after a bloody lorry?

Sunday's EGM – The greatest insult of all.

We at Challenge for Leadership, along with a great number of card carrying members and ex-members concluded that this entire EGM was going to be very carefully stage-managed by Griffin and his close clique of sycophants, and we were not disappointed in either respect.

Although it appeared as though Griffin was defeated in his 4 year rule constitutional amendment, he did in fact walk away with the entire Party almost secured in his back pocket unnoticed by most of the membership present. The supposed ‘compromise’ has left us in a position whereby we can have a leadership challenge every year, however, and this is a huge "however", that challenger will require 5% of the total membership which has unbroken membership for a minimum of two years to sign to say they support the challenge.

Bear in mind that the Party leadership is stating that the membership is around 10,000, this would mean that up to 500 signatures would be required from around the country! If this wasn’t difficult enough, add to the equation the fact that in Griffin’s BNP to sign a leadership nomination form against is counter-mount to cutting your membership card in half.

Think about the fact also that to stand as an official prospective local councillor you need only 10 signatures; and this is the same system that Griffin describes as ‘undemocratic’ The hypocrisy here is unbelievable.

Myself, Colin Auty and the rest of the team can vouch for just how many members are genuinely scared of what would have happened if they showed their support for Colin. Remember also that Colin was an immensely popular member, musician and elected borough councillor, and Colin still just fell short of the required 100 signatures.

It would seem therefore an almost impossible task to gather this quantity of overt supporters. Finding such a large total of willing members with few resources, to effectively sign themselves onto Griffin’s ‘2009 purge-list’ will be a mammoth undertaking. Griffin has stitched the Party membership up very tightly indeed.

Griffin’s blackmail, if you want him out – it will cost us £30,000+

We find it particularly difficult to come to terms to one amendment that Griffin managed to sneak through, and that is that if we want to rid ourselves of his rule, it could financially wipe us off the political map. Clearly Griffin now knows that he is in an unrecoverable position within the Party, and all the constitutional changes under the sun cannot hold off the inevitable for ever.

Even the mere idea that the chairman of the British National Party should be ‘paid off’ for having filled a position he should have been honoured to have served is deeply saddening.

We have listed just a few comparisons of just how Griffin shows his contempt for the membership.

Average activist/organiser- Donates a huge sum each year to help keep their group or branch ticking along.
Griffin- Takes home £25k a year plus thousands through the Trafalgar Club and form11 expenses.

Average activist/organiser- Spends a fortune on petrol each year and adds thousands of miles onto their car.
Griffin- Chauffeur driven around the country and charges local groups to speak at their meetings, despite this being his job! He also claims expenses for food, hotels etc all from the Party.

Average activist/organiser- Will sometimes pay for their membership and activism by loosing their job/career/livelihood and maybe socially ostracised.
Griffin- The chairmanship is his livelihood; and business is doing great. Has open channels to many media outlets. Focus of attention internationally.

Average activist/organiser- Can be expelled or purged from the Party by Griffin and left with absolutely nothing whatsoever.
Griffin- He wants it to cost our Party 30k just to see the back of him.

Average activist/organiser- Sometimes risks physical attack and abuse during their legal and rightful activities.
Griffin- Doesn’t even leave the house without a personal minder and will sometimes insist on a large personal security team for public events.

I could go on and on, and I’m sure a great many members could a few to add themselves.

Griffin is now like a spoilt child in a sweetshop, he is stamping his feet while filling his pockets as quickly as he can before he is thrown out on his ear. He is a parasite.

Griffin – You will be denied!

It will fall to be the duty of a newly elected chairman to simply deny Griffin ANY financial ‘back-hander’ or pay-off whatsoever when he is finally excreted from our Party.

There will be no £30,000 for Griffin regardless to any ‘agreement’ that was hastily thrown together at the RWB. One thing we have all learned about ‘Planet Griffin’, and that is when it comes to legal matters, arrogance is not enough in the eyes of the law; and any agreement will simply not be worth the paper it is written on. If Griffin does however decide to take this issue to court he will be soundly defeated, and this time he’ll have to pay for his own legal ineptitude and pomposity.

A ray of hope through the clouds

As the rain clouds over Derbyshire slowly start to clear and gazebos are once again packed into garages and sleeping bags stuffed in to washing machines; a ray of hope can be found shining.

We at Challenge for Leadership implore those members shocked by what Griffin pushed through and manipulated at the EGM to hold fire and not throw away the years of work they have put into the Party by casting away their membership. It was decent members failing to renew their 2008 membership that served Griffin’s purpose by helping to deny us the signatures we needed to allow Colin to stand. Had those people renewed we would have easily achieved the required number so do not fall into that same trap in the future.

There WILL be another challenge, and this time we will be fully alert and ready.

A meeting has already taken place between some of the heavyweight, long standing and sincere British nationalists opposed to the rule of Griffinism. That meeting was very successful and was the first of many. Those involved have learnt some very important lessons over the past few years and those lessons will not be lost.

Our growing support base is spreading throughout the various regions, which has been given a firm boost over the weekend after the shocking changes to the constitution have begun to slowly sink in. Getting out there and spreading the word will now be considerably easier than before. This will make the monumental task of achieving the required signatures within our grasp regardless of how difficult it has been made for us this year.

We will work hard towards whatever it will take to unseat Griffin in the next leadership challenge and replace him with a genuine individual with only the success of our British National Party in his or her heart and mind.

Never again must we allow ourselves to become so complacent that we allow a corrupt and devious totalitarian to weave a creeping web around us all.

There have been unconfirmed reports that a bomb was thrown early this morning at the gates of the RWB site in Denby, Derbyshire, by 'militant anti-fascists?'.

Information is very sketchy at this time, but as soon as we can find out more, we will report it here.

Update –

It has been virtually impossible to verify any of the above information, but we do have a reliable source that has told us that the police are ‘taking something very seriously indeed’

One particular Griffin-propaganda blog had posted information about an incident, but later retracted it and denied it had happened in a clearly very clumsy and desperate attempt to hide something, and blamed local youths with fireworks.
Quite why the police would take a kid with a ‘firework’ very seriously indeed, is something worth pondering.

It is the belief of the Challenge for Leadership team that indeed a very serious incident has probably taken place, and Griffin’s lie machine has gone into overdrive to conceal the truth to protect his money-spinning weekend.

The police may well also have put into place a ‘D notice’ preventing any media outlet from reporting the incident while they investigate further. We will leave it now for the reader to come to their own conclusions to this mysterious and potentially very worrying situation.

Dear Colleague

As discussed in the last British Nationalist bulletin, the full text of the proposed changes to the party Constitution have now been published in full on the BNP website. These have been posted prominently on the Featured Articles section, which means that they will stay there in full view from now until the meeting. They are also being sent to you now at the bottom of this email, so that you can study them for yourself and pass them on to others. They will also be on display at the RWB itself.

The full current Constitution is also online (linked in the article itself) so that you and your members can compare the two and see the changes in full context.

Finally, the BNP members have been allowed to view the actual Constitution of the Party of which they are members! It seems that Nick Griffin has done all he can up to now to prevent people from seeing the Constitution, as a full reading of it leaves one in little doubt that it allows Nick Griffin to run the BNP like a Dictatorship.

Predictably, all the usual suspects - Lancaster UAF, the false flag 'nationalist' blogs run by Searchlight, the neo-Nazi cranks and various air-headed Tory types - are working themselves into hysteria about these changes, which they portray - in typical contradictory terms - as either 'dictatorial' or 'weak'. But rather than merely deciding to vote FOR anything that their unholy anti-BNP alliance opposes, you are asked to take a few minutes to study the proposals for yourself.

Yawn….. Come on Nick, change the record. It is your most common tactic to lump all your enemies (note YOUR enemies, not usually enemies of the BNP) into one and then attempt to create a ‘them’ versus ‘us’ mentality in the eyes of the membership. You have churned out the same rubbish for years, just like you did when you split the National Front many years ago with your expulsions and accusations. The one thing that you seem to be forgetting is that aside from the Red Scum, everyone else who criticises you actually wants to save the BNP, hence why they criticise you. To assume that ‘we are under attack from the usual suspects’ is simply false. YOU are under attack from many people out in the open who there is no need to suspect – no decent Nationalists are attacking the BNP, just you.

As you will see, the biggest change proposed by the four motions is related to future leadership elections. These proposals arose partly as a result of concern by very large numbers of local officials who were sick and tired of having to reassure good-hearted but less experienced activists that the Internet and media chatter about such things creating a 'crisis' for our party on an annual basis were wholly unfounded. At the same time as proposing to move forward to elections for four-year, fixed term leadership (starting with a compulsory leadership election next year), however, the proposals also fill the gap in the old Constitution, which leaves the arrangements for such contests purely at the discretion of the leader at the time.

And what a change that would be! The Constitution was fine as long as your propaganda and spin was keeping members happy that we were on the verge of a breakthrough, that we were the fastest growing party in the country, and that all your enemies were the enemies of the BNP. In fact, you deemed the Constitution fine so long as nobody troubled your lofty position and pay packet at the top of the tree. When more and more good people (high ranking officials, local-level officials, hard-working activists, donators) became disillusioned with you, and your running of OUR party, and some even had the temerity to stand against you, you want to change the rules!

The reason that things are blown out of proportion are as follows:
There is no democratic accountability in the BNP.
There is no proper and just disciplinary procedure in the BNP.
There are no set rules on how a leadership contest will take place – Where do people go to get nomination papers? Who is the returning officer?
There was potentially going to be a leadership contest this year, yet rather than BNP publications and/or the website informing members of this, it said nothing – why do you think members wondered what was going on and either got information from people hostile to you or from people that you instruct to spread lies and disinformation? This created a hostile environment, as did your bad mouthing of Cllr. Colin Auty when he announced that he would be standing against you.
You are immensely paranoid and this ensures that an environment of mistrust exists and that you stack the odds in your favour so that any competitor has little or no chance of winning an election against you. You enter the ring against your opponent having tied his hands together and stabbed him in the back.
Leadership campaigns should be encouraged – people respond to incentives. The best person should lead the BNP and should do a good enough job every year to justify being re-elected every year, in a friendly environment.

In reality, it is the more experienced officials who are your largest critics as they have seen all this from you before. It is the wet behind the ears newcomers who are your biggest fans, as they have not yet had the chance to see how incompetent, greedy and paranoid you really are. However, you want to make it seem that “large numbers of local officials” are behind you all the way and thus convince those wavering that ‘everyone who is anyone in the BNP is behind Mr. Griffin’. What about the large number (over 60 officials and councillors) who resigned in protest at your latest round of purges against decent nationalists in December 2007?

The new proposals for the mechanics of leadership elections, and the shifting of the date to the Autumn so as to get them well away from the usual May/June election dates, were worked out after extensive debate by a Constitutional revision working party appointed by the Advisory Council earlier this year. It is hoped that the proposed commitment to a clearly fair and democratic debate will not only be appreciated by our members but will also reinforce the party's democratic credentials to a wider audience.

You have to be having a laugh here Nick? When has anything been fair and democratic with you? It is you who:

Expels people without a tribunal

Expels those in charge of BNP media who don’t hang onto your every word, and replaces them with Griffin supporters

Called Chris Jackson and his supporters “vermin” for having the audacity to want democratic reform

Called Cllr. Colin Auty a “back-stabbing c***” when he announced that he would be standing against you this year

Appoints all national officials in the BNP, regardless of the job they are doing, and appoints on favouritism and personal agenda’s rather than ability to get the job done

In addition, since the shift to a four-year term could be seen as handing more power to the leader (though, with only two leadership contests in the party's 26-year history so far, some may think that to claim so is to ignore reality), there is also an extremely important move to hand to the Annual Conference the power by a two-third majority vote in effect to pass a vote of 'No Confidence' in the leader and trigger a leadership contest in any year. It is hoped that this combination will both deny our opponents the opportunity to encourage and exploit rumours of annual contests by manipulated 'no-hope' candidates, and at the same time provide an important safeguard to prevent any leader, present or future, from trying to move beyond anything approved of by the majority of the Voting Members - the local officials and key activists who really make the party tick.

Your changes have nothing to do with future leaders, and everything to do with the present leader. Because of your track record of expulsions, slandering and accusations, against anyone who does not give you (again you, not the BNP) total loyalty, people are scared to speak out or lead a rebellion against you and you know this. You rule like Machiavelli’s Prince. You know that there is very little chance of two thirds of voting members voting you out as you expel or sideline any voting member who questions your ability or your integrity. You wanted to expel all those who signed the nomination papers for Chris Jackson – that is the depths of your sick and paranoid agenda. That agenda is personal and wholly against the interests of the BNP.

You mention that there have only been two leadership elections in the last 26 years, yet there would have been two in the last two years had your bully boy tactics not prevented a respected Councillor from standing against you. Thus the trend is that more and more people are getting sick of the current leadership i.e. you, and to safeguard against this you want to guarantee yourself a four year term.

The fact that you compliment Voting Members who really do make the Party tick is a simple ploy to try and get them onside. If you ever got wind of Voting Members not being happy with you, you would expel the ‘ring-leaders’ (without a tribunal no doubt), would butter up the rest of the voting members in publications controlled by you, would get your gimps to phone around the rest of the voting members extolling your virtues, and would use your spin and propaganda gimps to brainwash anyone else.

The Voting Membership's power over major policy changes will also be enshrined in the new Constitution if the motion is approved. This is not only what has already been agreed as the right way forward, but it would also put an end to the endless black propaganda tales that the leadership are planning to let in black members or similar nonsense.

The other particularly important change (several of them are minor, tidying up points) would be to allow future Constitutional amendments to be voted on by postal ballot. The Constitutional working party proposed this in order to deal with the potential problem that, when the Constitution was first written by John Tyndall in 1982, the entire membership could be fitted into a large number of meeting places. Since then, fortunately, a ten-fold membership growth means that, to get even a quarter of our membership into a meeting hall would be possible in so few venues that, quite apart from the huge cost involved, we would be extraordinarily unlikely to be able to find a venue willing to have us or to withstand the inevitable pressure from the far-left.

Would the postal ballots be sent to a Griffin friendly official no doubt? In see-through envelopes, like last time, so that Chris Jackson votes could be seen by putting them up to the window or the light bulb? Where would they be stored? You can get thousands of people in a field; the BNP would not get many thousands of members to an EGM while you are in charge.

This is why it was decided by the Advisory Council that the end of the RWB was the only time and place practical for the holding of such a debate and series of votes, and why our working party decided to propose to include the option of postal ballots in future.

Not surprisingly, the usual little cliques of malcontents are all hoping that a natural desire to go home at the end of a busy weekend will leave the meeting short on officials and members with a mature attitude to serious organisation, and long on individuals who for one reason or another will be there to cause trouble or push their own personal agendas, rather than doing what is best for the party. We are not asking that you come along with your minds already made up, still less that you think in terms of voting in favour of the proposals automatically just because they are being proposed by the most successful leadership in the history of British nationalism. But we are asking that you make the effort to be there, to listen to the debate and to vote for what you genuinely think is best for the BNP - regardless of which way you judge that to be. And we ask that you also mobilise your local members to do the same.

And here we go again… “little cliques of malcontents”. By this Nick Griffin means anyone who does not either like him, his running of the BNP, or both. Yet of course Griffin will be OK as he has those with a “mature attitude to serious organisation” to rely on. i.e. if you don’t for Griffins proposals then you are immature and would like the rest of the BNP to be run like the Treasury Department. The best interests of the Party would be for Nick Griffin to resign there and then, yet for the time being it is imperative that he does not get away with getting himself a four year term (knowing how fixed the potential winner takes all election in 2009 would be).

Let's us this opportunity not only to further strengthen the foundations on which the British National Party is based, but also as a way to boost even further the attendance at this year's Red-White-and-Blue. No doubt you are already aware that the Labour council and the far-left's brave cyber-warriors and lock-supergluers are almost hysterical in their efforts to stop it going ahead, or at least to put people off and cut down our numbers and our fun. They know that the BNP is on a roll and they are desperate to inflict some kind of 'defeat' on us before the gathering economic crisis brings the time of explosive growth that puts us way beyond their league forever. So please come along, preferably on Friday 15th so that there are so many of us and our families there that it will be their morale that, yet again, takes a battering. See you there!

Motion 1
Advisory Council

S.5.1. Replace “the organisers of the party's four strongest regions” with “all Regional Organisers”.

S.5.2. replace “three times a year” with “four times a year”

This is a pretty straight-forward start – used to get people used to voting ‘yes’.

Motion 2
Leadership Elections

The whole of the existing Section 4 should be replaced with:

S.4.1. Elections for the post of National Chairman shall be held every four years, starting in 2009. Nominations shall open on 20th July in each leadership election year and close at noon on 10th August. The election shall be held on a 'one member, one vote' basis in a secret postal ballot of all members paid up by 1st of July.

S.4.2. Any member of the party may become a candidate for the post of National Chairman of the party provided that person has on or before the close of nominations is and has been a fully paid up member of the party for a minimum of five consecutive years, and has secured the signatures on his or her nomination paper of ten current Voting Members and one hundred members each with a minimum of 24 months continuous membership. Each member can only nominate one candidate.

So now you are expecting people such as elected Councillors to get 110 signatures – and ten of those must be from Voting Members who you would then expel anyway. This, by the way, without access to knowing who is a member and who isn’t, or indeed how long they have been members for.

S.4.3. Notification of a leadership election shall be issued in the September issue of British Nationalist, while the October issue will include an A4 manifesto sheet from each candidate (designed and supplied by them) and a ballot paper, and will be sent by post to all members, including those who normally receive their bulletins electronically.

S.4.4. A prerecorded debate between the candidates shall be publicised on BNPtv, a private page on the BNP website will give each candidate up to six sides of A4 designed by them, the party magazine shall give each candidate equal space to set out their ideas, and at least three hustings meetings will be held with equal time for each candidate in different parts of the country and be open to all paid up members from the areas in question. In the event that unavoidable external circumstances render any of these methods of communication impractical they may be omitted or replaced as decided by a simple majority vote of a special meeting of the Advisory Council.

Try and make out that in future you will be much fairer to your challengers than you ever have been in the past, in order to convince people that although elections will be every four years instead of every year, you will give them a bit more of a chance than you have done before.

S.4.5. The ballot papers shall be kept unopen-ed until the post has arrived on the third Thursday of October, where all received ballots shall be opened and counted under the supervision of two senior officials appointed by the AC who are not candidates, together with the candidates and up to two scrutineers each.

S.4.6. The election shall take place on a first past the post basis.

S.4.7. In any election year in which no nominations for the post of National Chairman of the party are received in accordance with Sub-section 2 of this Section, the currently serving holder of the post will be deemed to have received a mandate from the party to hold it for a further full term. In any election year where a leadership challenge is entered the currently serving National Chairman shall be deemed to be nominated automatically should he wish to stand again.

i.e. “In those circumstances where my efforts to stop nomination papers being signed works, I will be re-elected without the need for a leadership election, and we can have another four years of expelling my critics and promoting myself in BNP publications”.

S.4.8. In event of a General Election being called before the ballot papers have been posted, the campaign may be suspended at the discretion of simple majority vote of the AC, resuming the schedule immediately after polling day.

S.4.9. If an outgoing National Chairman is a paid employee of the party and either does not wish to remain as such or is not required as such by the new incumbent, he shall receive severance pay in line with the statutory requirement, plus one month for each year served up to a total of eight years, and one week extra for each year thereafter.

You have got to be joking?! Why just the National Chairman? Why not all those you fire at whim? Why this at all? Basically you are saying “either let me milk the BNP as Chairman or you will have to give me a massive pay-off if you vote me out”. You should be Chairman for the love of nationalism, not the love of money. If ever there was proof that you were in it for the money Nick then this is it - get out of our party you money obsessed moron.

S.4.10. The successful candidate in any such election will be considered as occupying the office of National Chairman immediately on completion of the counting of votes in that election.

Please note that the following proposed alterations are so closely connected to the changes proposed for S.4 that it is necessary to take them together with it as one composite motion 1.

S.5.6. The only other power of the Advisory Council shall be that it may call a General Members' Meeting by a two-thirds majority of Advisory Council members voting in a properly convened meeting with a quorum of two-thirds, even if this is opposed by the National Chairman. Alternatively the National Chairman may call such a meeting or postal ballot at any time he deems it necessary. Should such a meeting or ballot be called, it must be held within 40 days, and the matter which led to it being called shall be put to the members to decide. If a two-thirds majority of those voting should vote against the National Chairman then he is bound to accept that decision or to resign from the leadership, triggering a leadership election in which he may stand if he so wishes.

As if anyone on the AC would dare undermine you like that Nick? Those hand picked people would be out of a job, out of a position, and no doubt out of the BNP with a few insults thrown in. You rule by fear, and most of those brave enough to stand up against you have been expelled.

S.5.7. The National Chairman may also be held to account by a motion proposed and supported in writing by twenty Voting Members and submitted to the party's registered headquarters address not later than 14 days before the date of the Annual Conference. This motion shall then be debated and voted upon by all Voting Members at the conference and, if passed by a minimum two-thirds majority, a leadership election shall be triggered, using the procedures and time-scale laid out in this Constitution, but with the schedule starting from 14 days after the date of the Annual Conference. The previous National Chairman may stand in this election is he so wishes.

S.5.10. A member of the Advisory Council shall not be removed from the Advisory Council on the day of an Advisory Council meeting.General Members' Meetings & Ballots

S.13.2. In the event of the National Chairman or the Advisory Council calling a General Members' Meeting, at least 14 days' notice must be given to all members by post with notification of the proposed motions. All members of the party shall have the right to attend and vote, subject to the provisions of Section 2, Sub-section 6 of this Constitution.

S.13.3. remove “not later than 28 days before the scheduled date of the meeting” and replace “National Chairman” with “Chairman of the meeting.”
Motion 3Postal ballot option

S.13.5. General Members' Meetings may only be called by the National Chairman or by the Advisory Council in accordance with Section 5 of this Constitution. All matters which may be decided by a General Members' Meeting may also be put to the membership by postal ballot. The motions for such a postal ballot are to be decided by a two thirds majority of the Advisory Council or by the National Chairman and are to be sent out in the first available British Nationalist together with a ballot paper for each paid up member, who should have a minimum of 14 days in which to return the ballot paper. The opening and counting of the ballots is to be witnessed by the proposers and a minimum of two national officers, with all members of the Advisory Council entitled to attend should they so wish.

Motion 4
Determination of Core Policies by Voting Members(Note: This is part of a rolling programme intended to transfer additional key powers to the Voting Membership, and further changes in that regard are expected in the future as the institution itself develops)

Remove Section 3.1.d.

S.13.4. Add Section 14 to list of protected Sections in S.13.4. and remove reference to ghost ss.6.

S.14.2. Change method of notification of any changes to the Constitution to “or publication on the party's official website.”

Add S.14.3. No proposals to change any part of Section 1 of this Constitution, or to change or adopt any major policy, are to be proposed to either a General Members' Meeting or in a postal ballot until previously passed by the Annual Conference of Voting Members.

The three options of repression

It came as no surprise to realise the depths to which Nick Griffin is prepared to stoop in order to make ‘a few extra quid’ had sunk even lower.

The disgust that a great many people have felt on hearing that the Party is selling fake Victoria Crosses; the highest military honour that can be bestowed on our brave armed forces personnel, has already been noted and commented on, and so does not need reiterating once again.

However, there is one point that many people, although already offended that Griffin is pursuing the ‘any old tat for money’ line have missed.

Griffin – Anyone is entitled to my opinion; because yours is worthless.

The fact that so many members and supporters have expressed their revulsion at the Party selling such crass tat, have quite obviously made no impression whatsoever on Griffin.

We have been reliably informed that when questioned regarding the potentially negative ramifications of such insensitivity, Griffin’s attitude was simply one of "If you don’t like it tough s**t, I’m the chairman and I make the decisions".

This type of 'Griffinism' we have all come to recognise, and although one can become desensitised to such belligerent arrogance, it nevertheless still comes as a shock considering that his popularity has hit rock bottom.

Under any normal democratic and non-dictatorial constitution, Griffin would have surely been thrown out on his ear by now by an angry membership for the shocking way which he has purged the Party of its brightest stars, while fleecing the membership of their donations in such a blatant way.

Griffin has reacted to the request to take down the sale of the Victoria Crosses as an attack on him and his regime. Just like the rhetoric he routinely spews at the meetings he speaks at, he simply reiterated his infamous line. "If you are not with me then go, and go now".

This proves to us that he is indeed a desperate coward that hasn’t even the most basic quality of any nationalist politician; the desire to listen to the wishes of the people.

Simon says, ‘Put your hands in your pockets’

Simon Darby, Griffin’s appointed National Press Officer and Deputy Chairman, in his usual ham-fisted fashion, attempted to try and palm off this issue by informing the national press that, quote,

"We [BNP] don't get donations from dodgy foreign businessmen or the trade unions - so we raise money in other ways".

Yes, we know Mr. Darby, like for an example, lying to the membership about desperately needing to raise tens of thousands of pounds to buy a [Truth Truck] lorry, when in fact you already had one waiting there all along!

The whole fund raising campaign is simply a gimmick to raise enough cash so that Griffin can fight his European Parliamentary campaign, and attempt to pay off his growing legal fees after failing to break the will and take away the homes of several ex-Party officials he purged from the Party last December.

Griffin’s dictatorship – backed-up with his hired muscle and the police.

Many members and ex-members alike have been in contact with the Challenge for Leadership team, and suggested that we attend this year's RWB en-mass in order to rally the growing support for the removal of Griffin from within it.

This course of action would not be beneficial to the goal of removing him; it would in fact play directly into his hands. Griffin would like nothing more than to attempt to once again label those that have dared to stand up to him as ‘Searchlight backed Red’s’ etc. We have been reliably informed that Party security has been handed a list of those persons "his Lordship" has deemed as undesirable to his weekend of Griffin-Worship.

Chairman’s Orders

Anyone on that list will be denied access to the site by security operating under ‘Chairman’s orders’ and then reported to the Police and possibly even arrested for Breach of the Peace to spend the rest of the day in a Derbyshire Police cell.

Griffin would then simply lump these patriots in with the assortment of 'Reds' and Communist types that are sure to hold a protest this year. Basically everyone outside of planet-Griffin would then simply be tarred as being ‘backed by Searchlight, blah blah blah’.

He would then make great play of it at every opportunity thereafter, about how we, the Challenge for Leadership team, tried to ruin the RWB but were stopped by his 'wonderful and intuitive leadership!’

We must continue to use our heads if we are to remove him – RWB Sunday EGM

Those freedom loving members of our Party who are attending this year's RWB, who believe that they will be given access to the site, once on site must carry themselves with that same honour and determination that afforded them the insight and perspective to realise the true character of Griffin in the first place.

During Sunday’s EGM, we implore such nationalists to use their voice to vote against Griffin’s proposals that if pushed through would officially and emphatically reduce the Party to that of a third rate tin-pot dictatorship.

Psychological pressure

Griffin’s opening address at the EGM will be polished and carefully worded and he will use every political salesman cliché in the book to try and deceive those voting members in attendance.

There is also likely to be a heavy security presence close to hand should he feel the need to exert a little extra psychological pressure on the audience by expelling one or two people from the meeting should proceedings displease him in some way.

Griffinism’s Achilles heel – The truth, articulated moderately to the membership.

The majority of people who have joined the Party have done so because they have seen through the blatant lies of the three main Parties, and decided to act in the hope that they could help build a viable alternative.

We ask these same people to simply do this once again, this time from within the Party with their eyes wide open. The membership must be kept informed about the desperate decrees and diktats that Griffin is prepared to throw at them in order to maintain his damaging regime that is dragging the Party down.

A time for hope!

It is our firm belief that the British National Party can, and will be wrestled away from Griffin; but it is going to take time, pressure and patience.

A growing number of nationalists from around the country have realised the truth, and Griffin’s principle propaganda machine the BNP website, is simply no longer sufficient to keep the wool pulled down over the eyes of the membership.

The greater part of the membership are starting to see the plain truth for what it is; they are realising that in Griffin’s warped version of our once proud Party, all individual members are afforded one of three options with their 2008 membership card -

Option 1 - The surrendering of all your nationalist principles and beliefs to those in line with Griffinsim which shall include a total unquestioning allegiance to him at all times.

Option 2 - Leave the Party quietly and leave now.

Option 3 - Be purged and bullied from the Party and then labelled a ‘Searchlight mole’ and slandered.

This is the state of play today for all members of the British National Party, but this terrible state of affairs will not last.

The sun will set on Griffinism, and we will continue to do what we can to accelerate its demise.

The membership are waking!

The following article was originally sent into us anonymously as a post comment, but we feel it covers so many points excellently we have posted it as an article in its own right.

As a long time Nationalist and, at one time, quite close to Nick Griffin I have sat back over the last couple of years and watched disturbing things unfold, develop and evolve into the situation that now exists within the B.N.P.

A situation where mistrust, lies and despotic rulings are legion. Comments on various blogs range from factual down to the down right disgusting and libellous, comments that are, without doubt, injurious to the Nationalist cause. I’ve always believed in ‘Fight Fire With Fire’ but when your own fire is burning you, you’d better think long and hard regarding your motives, and that is something that many people should have been done a long, long time ago.

The Ladder of political success has always been pitched at a very steep angle by the Liberal establishment and the powers that be. Ascending that ladder was, from the start, always expected to be tough going but Nationalists are a tough breed and a bit of tough going often strengthens the resolve. The problem I had was identifying who was responsible for applying a thick coat of grease to the rungs of this political ladder.

Not just making the going treacherous but deterring people from attempting such an arduous and risky climb in the first place.Too many people, good Nationalists, have come and gone over the years and, though some can be put down to natural leakage or the novelty wearing off, these losses must be addressed, warts and all.

The fact that, every so often, members are either sidelined, slandered or purged from the party is one thing, the reasons for their fate is, more than often, never really given or addressed in a democratic way. They are just labelled as being vermin etc. etc.

The rank and file continue their plod forward trusting the party management are right and that all will be well in the end.But can it be all well in the end? Can a political party really expect to reap the rewards of success when it constantly gets rid of its best and its brightest because they identify the weaknesses in the party and care enough to take the concerns and complaints of others within the party to their leader?

In the last Decembers purges, for example, it was much publicised that Kenny Smith, Sadie Graham and the rest of the so called ‘Rebels’ were outed from the Party because of the ‘Enoughisenoughnick’ blog that was set up. Total codswallop, they had seen the signs that their days within the party could be numbered way before that, back in September/October 07.

It must also be remembered that the blog did NOT attack the party and did NOT attack Nick Griffin in the first instance. It was a last ditch attempt at getting something done regarding Collett, Hannam and the like and getting Nick to listen to what so many members were complaining about.The discovery of the blog being set up by way of the recording, legal or illegal, was pure chance, completely by accident, a Godsend that gave Griffin the chance to do what he had been in planning for some time.

But the way that he did it showed complete and utter ignorance and bull headed incompetence in reading and handling the situation. Nick may be a good orator and politician but a manager? a people smith? never.Instead of suspending, who he considered to be the guilty, pending an immediate hearing by their peers, a disciplinary, and expulsion from the party if it were found necessary, Griffin had the whole affair broadcast to the Nation and his dog, giving the blog address and started the usual round of damaging slander.

Vermin, MI5 agents and Searchlight Moles etc. He knew he would have to really lay it on thick because it involved ranking members of the B.N.P. that were respected within the party for their hard work and dedication to Nationalism. (Yes this has all been said before but the carpet has got mighty lumpy over the years and it is getting lumpier month by month.)

Griffin acted in his own interest in removing, once again, talented people that, in the future, might threaten his hold on the leadership of the party, a move that has damaged the Party and, if I read the situation correctly, will come back to haunt him and be an awakening to those that still think the sun shines out of his every orifice.

I believe in, and would always support, the Nationalist belief, but when I hear members say that Nick Griffin is the only hope for Nationalism in this county, I fear for its future. It’s the British Nationalist Party and its members that are the hope for the future and our hopes should lie with them.

But if Griffin gets his, much mooted, place in Europe and hands the leadership over to Collett, so he can still pull the strings attached to this obnoxious piece of work, then there is no hope, it will disintegrate.

Deputy-Treasurer confuses his left and right limbs

“In every sphere the British National Party is becoming more sophisticated and professional as each day goes by”

Thus wrote Martin Wingfield on June 30^th on the official BNP web site. Martin is a well respected, highly knowledgeable political journalist with some 30 years of nationalist political experience under his belt. Little did he know that just days before he penned this bold claim that one of his colleagues had signed off the 2007 Accounts for the Regional Accounting Unit in a manner which seriously undermines the claim that the BNP has made any professional progress in that particular department. A speed reading of the report shows glaring errors while further enquiry reveals a shocking lack of care and responsibility for money donated by well meaning members and supporters.

The title page of the report is at least error-free which is about all that can be said for the 18 page report riddled with spelling errors and reads as if it were written by a first generation Albanian immigrant struggling with the language of his new home.

Day of the week

Pity poor David Hannam; Deputy Treasurer and compiler of the report – critics have often ridiculed him suggesting he doesn’t know what day of the week it is. We cannot possibly comment but here in black and white we have evidence that David is in a world of his own. Not once, not twice, but three times he signs off the documents 23^rd June 2007 on pages 6,7,8 or to be correct the first page 8, because there are in fact two pages – quite separate in content labeled page 8. 2007, what the heck? Shame on his supposed friends and colleagues who didn’t offer to proof-read his earnest submission.

Those of us who have tramped the streets leafleting and canvassing the housing estates on our own patch may have smiled at the superstitious folly of the council planners or property developers who seem to regard number 13 as unlucky and a leaflet dropped into the letter box of number 11 is followed by the next house number 15. Dave appears to be similarly inclined with pages 11,12 being followed by page 14! Perhaps Dave is trying to ward off the bad luck omen that tragically shadows him.

Even the simple task of copying and pasting seems to beyond the “professionalism” of the Deputy Treasurer.

On page 1 we are told:

“The Regional Accounting Unit is a separately registered unit with the Electoral Commission. It is the only separate unit of the British National Party. It is operated and paid for by the Party.”

Page 8 (the first page 8) repeats this with a spelling error and the unnecessary use of quotes around the names of two organisations.

“The Regional Accounting Unit is a seperately (sic) registered unit with the “Electoral Commission”. It is the only separate unit of the “British National Party”. It is operated and paid for by the Party.”

Nice to see such professionalism at work in the “BNP”!

Increased control - apparently

The rest of (the first) page 8 goes on to relate how the aim of increased financial control and transparency has been achieved.

Excellent – that is welcome reassurance to all those members, supporters and casual donors who can see where their money is going and must surely prove that all those criticisms from the army of doubters are unfounded. So let’s see what Dave Hannam has in store for us; all the criticisms leveled against him that he doesn’t know his backside from his elbow and that he never should have been given the job in the first place are surely unfair and made by those trouble making individuals jealous of his achievements. The same criticisms made no doubt by those the Chairman called “vermin” in public on many occasion in the December purges.

Well, our hopes for greater transparency are very short-lived and dented by the wording on (the second) page 8 which is a bit of a let down on the professional front. We are told:

“These financial statements have been prepared under the historic cost convention and the accounting policies set out on page 17.”

Fast forward to page 17, the final of the report…..oh, nothing there except a continuation of the “Notes to the Financial Statements”. Perhaps Dave means page 16 or perhaps Dave thinks that the historic cost convention was a meeting of various heads of state in Washington in 1927.

Page 9 (or should it be page 10 – it’s all a bit of a muddle now) would make any teacher of the English language weep. It resembles the mother tongue but only just.

However, sarcasm aside the real damage is beginning to reveal itself. We are told that monthly reconciliations have not been carried out, that the “situation was also made more difficult due to the fact that central office have at periods (sic) borrowed from the regions.”

The key word here is “borrowed”, how much and for how long and for what purpose. Oh well we don’t know because we are told “(A)n annual reconciliation has not been carried out”.

The figure of £42,000 “borrowed” by Central Office from the region appears in the statement made by the official auditors, Cannock based Silver and Co. who report:

“In our opinion the financial statements give a true and fair view of the state of the party’s affairs as at 31^st December 2007; allowing for the fgact that at the year end the Party owed the Region £42,000 and the reason why this is the case is that it had insufficient funds, which places doubts on the ability of the Party to replay this money.”

That needs repeating, by the end of 2007 Central Office borrowed £42,000 (or £41,831 to be exact) from the regional coffers and the official auditors raises doubts about the ability of the Party to repay that sum in part or in full. No small wonder that some fundholders are stuffing the cash raised at meetings under their mattresses.

Snakes and ladders

The auditors also note that the petty cash income of £147,119 cannot be accounted for. It has simply appeared in the income column without a word of explanation. There was no such entry in the previous year. Donations throughout 2007 were down by 31% compared to the previous year, income from membership 26%, fundraising by 83% and income from commercial activities down by 21%. In other words, the year which saw “organisational growth” (page 1 of the report) also witnessed income in four areas significantly reduced compared to the previous year. However that reduced income is more than compensated for by the magical appearance of the £147,119 which resulted in an increased overall income of £74,868 on the previous year, an increase of 35%.

An increase in income of 35% is indeed worthy of praise and respect but this is greatly offset by apparent increased costs of operation.

The local council elections of May 2007, plus serious efforts to make progress in the regional chambers in Wales and Scotland understandably accounts for the massive hike in campaign costs from £36K in 2006 to nearly £91K in 2007. A breakdown of these costs shows almost all of this expenditure was on leaflets £89,542. The National Accounting Unit report shows that leaflet costs incurred by Central Office were £45,213. Leaflets are printed almost exclusively by printing companies contracted by Vanguard Promotions, the name of the sole trading operation owned by Mark Collett. Thus in 2007 a total of £134,755 was contracted by the BNP through Vanguard. It is not unreasonable for the owner of such a business to allow for necessary items of expenditure incurred running such a business and to charge the Party for the intellectual effort involved in designing items of publicity. There is a big question mark about the amount charged to the Party for that intellectual input. What percentage of the £134k goes straight into the bank account of Mark Collett, 5%, 10%, 15%, maybe more?

The costs of printing Identity, VOF and the FSID DVD all rose.

The monthly Identity magazine is a costly venture incurring a loss which would be enough to keep a full time employee on the books. It is widely known that the well respected veteran of nationalism, John Bean who does an excellent job of editing the magazine does so completely gratis; not even seeking reimbursement for the not inconsiderable telephone bills incurred as a necessary result of his work. If the editor doesn’t take a penny the only other area of cost must be in the layout, design and printing. All three conveniently undertaken by the same person, graphic designer Mark Collett who is responsible for layout and ensuring the job is contracted out to the most competitive printing company via his Vanguard Promotions intermediary.

The regional accounts show income from sales of ID - £8,170 and the costs of producing ID - £22,385

The Central Accounts report at a national level sales of £32,487 and costs of producing ID - £34,458

The combined income from ID sales is £40,657, whereas the cost of production is £56,843 a staggering loss of £16,286. The magazine costs just over £1 to produce and retails at £2.40 so why is the Party not making a profit? Furthermore a party struggling with debt might target this activity for a serious cost-cutting operation.

According to national and regional accounts a grand total of £191,598 (£134,755 on leaflets - £56,843 on ID) passed through Vanguard Promotions, a private and therefore unaccountable business run for personal gain by Mark Collett who sits on the Advisory Council. Fortunately for Master Collett the BNP is not subject to the same level of scrutiny as a local authority or other public agency as the words “conflict of interest” might inspire a serious enquiry.

The balance sheet shows that at the end of 2007 the Central Office plundered the Regional coffers to the tune of £41,831 apparently “borrowed” but for what reason and under what conditions we are not informed. Borrowing from Regional funds is nothing new, in 2006 £21,854 was removed in the same manner. However the additional £20,000 borrowed by the Central Accounting Unit during 2007 doesn’t appear as income in the central accounts. It shows up on the Central accounts as a liability in the British Heritage Acxcount (sic). If this is an example of “transparent” accounting Mr. Hannam needs a dictionary.

Businesses of all sizes rely on double-entry book-keeping. An organisation which attracts opprobrium from political opponents can compensate by striving towards professionalism in all other areas of its operation media desires to be taken seriously The BNP deserves better than back of envelope scribbling.

Notes 6 and 7 to accompany the financial statements are missing but we can assume they must appear on the invisible page 13. Note 6 relates to Management and Administration £63,434 and note 7 to Other Expenditure which cost £9,208. The omission of page 13 could, we concede, be a simple mistake by the Electoral Commission in the uploading of the report onto their web site but in view of all the other errors contained in the report we are inclined to lay the blame at the door of the former supermarket trolley steward David Hannam.

Black holes

On page 1 readers are told

“The Regional Accounting Unit is a separately registered unit with the Electoral Commission. It is the only separate unit of the British National Party. It is operated and paid for by the Party. It therefore incurs no costs, other than the annual audit fee, and generates no income in its own rights. It exists to consolidate the affairs of the different Units within one accounting unit.”

A professional fee of about £2,000 to the auditors would not be unreasonable for an operation of this size, and we can only assume, because it is not made clear that the audit fee would appear in Management and Administration, so what about the remaining £61K? If the Regional Accounting Unit “incurs no costs” what exactly is included in the £61,000 of expenditure?

Dave Hannam referring to the Regional Accounting Unit cites that “[It] is the only separate unit of the British National Party.” There is the Trafalgar Club which is an elite fundraising club. It must surely qualify as a separate unit of the BNP in a similar way to the Regional Accounting Unit which acts as an umbrella for the other regional fund raising clubs like the Peacock, Mercia and RedRose clubs. Accounts for the Trafalgar Club are never discussed at Advisory Council meetings, never submitted to the Electoral Commission and never made public through any other channel.

Criticism vindicated

In September last year the Group Support Officer, Ian Dawson resigned his post in frustration. Despite repeated attempts to draw the Chairman’s attention to the catalogue of sheer incompetence of the Deputy Treasurer no action, not even offering a helping hand, formal courses in book-keeping or other form of practical assistance to the struggling post-holder, was ever taken. David Hannam is a genuine nice enough young man but in his post of Deputy Treasure is a round-peg in a square hole.

Ian Dawson wrote a letter of resignation which listed a number of comments about the Deputy-Treasurer, comments which have been completely vindicated by this dog’s dinner of a report and confirmed by dozens of fund holders past and present around the country. Ian included:

· Mistakes on bank balances, and bank balance not being sent out often enough or up to date. This is a major bugbear in that local groups often get bank balances that are wrong. This is of especially great concern to me, as it is myself that sends them out and often gets the complaints back in. Many groups complain that money has not been credited to their account that they have banked, that things have not been explained in full on the account, and regional officials often complain that agreed local to regional transfers have not been completed. This is one of the most important roles of the regional treasurer and it is one that at the moment is not being done competently in any shape or form. The statements sent through for me to send out in August were shockingly bad – they had to be sent back twice with a long list of corrections that needed to be done. Lincoln for example, have had a nightmare time with the management of their account.

· Petty cash books and paying in books take an infuriatingly long time to get sent to new units. This leads to a high number of complaints when all that is needed is once every ten days to send a treasury pack to new units. Also, people complain that they don’t get things returned within a reasonable timescale when they submit things for auditing etc. Examples of units to complain about the lateness of treasury packs includes Southend, Exeter, Nuneaton, Castle Point, West Lindsey, Yorkshire, Richmond, Solihull, New Forest etc. etc.

· Dave often lies. This is an exceptionally infuriating trait that makes already annoying situations ten times worse. Instead of saying that something has not yet been done, people are often told ‘is in the post’ or ‘I’ve just sorted it now’, when in reality nothing has been done. This then means that people are under the illusion that they will be receiving documents in the next couple of days only to find that nothing arrives as nothing has been sent.

The content of Ian Dawson’s letter was dismissed by the Chairman, Nick Griffin as nothing more than “ad hominem attacks” and “bullshit”.

Summary

So there we have it – the BNP which according to Martin Wingfield in growing in professionalism has submitted a set of accounts to the Electoral Commission who holds these documents in perpetuity and makes them available to any member of the general voting public freely without any apparent proof-reading, without a second pair of eyes checking the content. Here we have a set of accounts which cannot explain the mysterious appearance of £147K of petty cash income, which shows the Regional Accounts plundered by Central Office to the tune of £42K, which shows a small fortune passing through the hands of Mark Collett and his Vanguard Promotions without revealing just how much the BMW driving owner of that business rakes in as commission from Party funds. Costs continue to rise, income is down and we are presented with a black hole of £61,000 in unexplained management and administration costs.

Accounts make for pretty dull reading but this one is part comic and part mystery but we also have to conclude they provide devastating evidence that the BNP is not the great white hope of the political struggle.

At a time when our race and nation face unprecedented perils on all fronts; culturally, economically, demographically and politically there has never been a greater need for organisations to represent the interests of the native ethnic groups of these islands in each and every sphere of commercial, political and cultural activity. Such organisations demand first class leadership, professionalism and fuelled by a burning desire to make things happen and get results.

It is both tragic and criminal that in its present condition the profligate leadership of BNP cannot be viewed as possessing the qualities needed and safeguarding the means to ensure not just our continued ethnic survival but our spiritual and moral progress and future sustainable economic prosperity for all time to come in our ancient island homelands.

After following the link to http://northwestnationalists.blogspot.com/ and reading about the shocking revelation concerning the BNP bank statements, I have added some valuable information of the shady world that is the BNP leadership.

Vanguard Promotions:

Mark Collett is self-employed. This should not really be the case as he does all or at least the great majority of his work for the BNP. He should be a salaried employee of the BNP, yet if this was the case then the BNP would have to pay National Insurance on his behalf and would have other tax liabilities. It is much easier for both parties if he is classed as self-employed. He works as a Sole Trader. The BNP is seemingly dodging National Insurance contributions.

Most self-employed people have a trading name, not necessarily a company, yet a trading name – one which they use when doing business. Sometimes it is just their own name i.e. Mark Collett, sometimes it is a made up name, such as Vanguard Promotions. Some people form a limited company, which is different from a Sole Trader. Limited companies have to have audited accounts (filed at Companies House) have to have Articles of Association, a Company Register etc. whereas a Sole Trader can do their own accounts and they remain private.

When looking at the accounts of a limited company (whether public or private) you will see what the company has paid for wages, goods, services, and what it has earned in revenue, how many assets it owns etc. You simply can’t go to a Sole Trader and find out how much they paid for certain services or primary goods, or how much they received for doing a particular job, without them telling you – yet they have no obligation to tell you.

Mark Collett is a Sole Trader. He generates all, or at least the great majority of, his income from the BNP (either Head Office or local units). When you see your unit bank statement (if you ever get to see it and it ever be correct) and it says Vanguard Promotions then this is money paid directly to Mark Collett, as a Sole Trader, using the trading name of Vanguard Promotions.

Bank Statements

Now, the BNP, as can be seen from the bank statements both of Head Office and the local units, pays out an absolute fortune to Vanguard Promotions during each year. This figure runs into tens of thousands, if not over a hundred thousand once all the local units have been accounted for. This does not mean to say that Collett gets paid over £100,000 a year and has this figure as a net profit, yet it does say that once Collett has paid his own bills for leaflets etc. he is left with £100,000 (for example) minus his own costs. As he is a Sole Trader, nobody, anywhere, can get to see what he pays out in costs, thus nobody anywhere, can get to see what he makes for himself each year. Also, Mark Collett claims expenses back from the Party via Form 11s (which exist to pay back officials for out of pocket expenses such as fuel and stationary). So not only is he ‘Self-Employed’ and getting paid a fortune for producing Identity Magazine and local and national leaflets – he also claims back expenses, saving himself a fortune yet costing the BNP a fortune all the same! These are the expenses he incurs in producing the things for which the BNP shells out a fortune – you just can’t make this up.

How much does he make?

Mark Collett might make £14,000 per year as a net profit, and essentially be paid what the ‘rebels’ were paid before they were sacked and expelled, or he may earn what Nick Griffin gets paid, which is alleged to be around £27,000 AFTER tax and national insurance – I am hopeful of getting more on this soon, for the time being I can only say alleged. He may earn £40,000 per year or he may earn £80,000 per year. The truth is that nobody knows. He is classed as Self-Employed so the BNP do not check his cheques, his printer receipts etc. – they have no authority to do so. He just sends in an invoice and gets paid – great work if you can get it (or maybe not if you have a nationalist conscience and would never dream of ripping off fellow hard-working nationalists).

There are many varied guesses as to just how much Collett actually makes from the BNP each year. Without being able to prove either way, I would use the following barometer: the lifestyle he leads. Most nationalists, and most of those who work in nationalism (or at least those that used to) earn very little each month, live in either rented houses or basic owned houses, drive old bangers or basic cars, go on few holidays, don’t eat out much etc. etc.

Mark Collett lives in a posh area of Leeds. His address (from the 2008 local elections) is:

you can see that number 10 recently sold for big bucks – namely £210,000. The rent on his place, number 10A, for a single guy, must be huge – absolutely huge.

Mark Collett drives a lovely BMW. Mark Collett visits Lap Dancing clubs (paying to watch our own once-proud women exploited in some seedy sex show) in Leeds with his friends from the Treasury Department. Mark Collett can often be found eating in swanky restaurants. Need I go on?

Conclusions

To sum up then, the BNP’s own bank statements for both Head Office and local units show Mark Collett getting paid an absolute fortune via his trading name Vanguard Promotions.
Mark Collett will have costs to pay for getting leaflets printed, or banners done etc. or getting ID printed. However, Mark Collett uses Form 11s to get some expenses claimed back from the BNP!
Mark Collett, via Vanguard Promotions, makes as a net profit, the sum of the total amount his gets paid from the BNP (and any other sources) minus his own expenses.
Mark Collett could be earning a fortune from the BNP – nobody can know for sure as nobody can see his accounts.
Mark Collett lives at a posh address, drives a posh car, and lives an extravagant lifestyle.

And people wonder why certain other people got sick of the rotten and shameful goings on at the top of the BNP and wanted to do something about it! These people tried to do it in-house, yet the Chairman rebuked them. They tried again and again yet to no avail. Then things turned public, largely due to horrendous errors of judgement by the current BNP Leadership, and an all-encompassing mess unfolded. However, things are still rotten and corrupt and so the fight goes on. One day the BNP will be rid of money grabbing charlatans, devious backstabbers and incompetent morons. Once the membership rise up and kick the snouts of the leadership well and truly out of the trough then the sun will once again shine brightly for British Nationalism.

This must be seen to be believed!

One day the world will know that Nick Griffin is a liar and a coward.
Strong words you could say, but then again I should know as it was him who challenged my integrity and hard work as a nationalist by calling me a ‘Searchlight mole’, ‘Nazi agitator’ and despite knowing 100% that this is rubbish, still continues to do so.

The latest smear that I have heard is the inconceivably inaccurate rumour amongst some key Party officials, that our unconstitutional expulsion was part of some bizarre plan devised by Kenny Smith and myself, to give us an excuse to drop out of politics! This has to be beyond doubt one of the most stupid things that I have heard ever; allow me to explain why.

Firstly, if I wanted to get out of politics, surely I would have just stopped working as hard as I was so that I was eventually sacked. The very fact that I worked hard, enjoyed my job, worked at it 24-7, always returned phone calls and emails was probably and ironically, one of the main contributing factors for me being slung out of the Party by Griffin. If I had been useless, egotistical, lazy, cheating and had concentrated my efforts on snivelling myself as far up Griffin’s backside as I could then my position would have been far more sustainable. Let’s be honest, as an elected female councillor with no criminal convictions and who lived and breathed nationalism, my succession within the Party was never going to be a historic one under Griffin. And neither did I want it to be, I had no designs on becoming Party leader, but I sure know now that I would do a better job of it than he has done.

Secondly, if I wanted out of politics then why did I not quit my positions as Borough and Parish Councillor? I love being a councillor and not only that, I am a pretty good one too. Yes I am now an Independent, I maintain my nationalist political views but no party politics affect the job that I do for the constituents of my village.
I have also just been successful in securing £32,000 worth of funding from Broxtowe Council. I applied for this funding under a scheme called ‘Neighbourhood Pride’. This money is being spent on improving aspects of our village and the work is currently underway. This was the most money the village has ever been awarded and certainly more than any Borough Councillor has achieved here before me. In fact the funding I won was added to by a further £16,000 from the County Council towards one of the schemes we are proceeding with. I have also just secured some more funding for the Youth Club of Brinsley and I am involved in many local groups that range from youth, to environmental programs. Does this sound like someone who wanted to be out of politics?

Thirdly, I have not walked away from politics despite what Griffin threatened me to do. Griffin knows that I worked very hard for the Party and improved a great number of areas within it, so why then would he want us out of nationalist politics altogether? The answer is simply because he considers us a threat to him because we were not easily manipulated and ‘bought’ as others close to him are within his personal clique with shallow promises of positions and status within the Party.

In these past seven months I have been amazed, amused, angered and left in disbelief at the way Griffin has handled this whole affair. If he hasn’t been lying about us then he has been skirting the issue or refusing to discuss it. Has the ‘Mighty Chairman’ told you he still has my computer and all the data on it? No, I haven’t had it returned, despite me returning every remaining Party item I had in my possession. Several of the items that he returned to me that were ‘mistakenly’ taken from my home in that illegal entry by BNP Security were also returned to me not in working order. Quite petty really but then nothing would surprise me now when dealing with this man – and I use that term quite loosely.

Plainly folks, the BNP will not make any serious inroads whilst he remains at the helm, it saddens me deeply but this is the reality and every day more and more people are realising this. It was a real shame that Colin’s campaign didn’t take flight, but it was always going to be virtually impossible when you have a Chairman that uses expulsion and proscription as a way of keeping himself in power. As if little version of Robert Mugabe, Griffin would have us topped if he thought he could get away with it. Colin was a brave man to stand and good on him for doing so, I just hope that more people find the courage to sign the nomination papers next time Griffin is challenged; and yes there will be a next time!

So where do we go from here?

This is the question that so many members and ex-members are now asking themselves; especially now that Griffin is planning to secure his seat officially as dictator. He will present a most 'reasonably' sounding, but heavily disguised argument to the voting members at an EGM at the RWB to give himself a mandate to be Party Chairman until the day he decides that he has either secured himself a very well paid position in Europe, or decides he wants to retire to his Welsh idyll with his family and a couple of pigs.

I am not going to make a plea to those of you that are intending to go to the EGM to have your say as it really won’t make an ounce of difference. Collett and Co. will pull the same old trick by pretending to be against the motion because ‘it shouldn’t be needed’ as Griffin is the best man for the job, blah, blah blah… it will be the same rhetoric as rolled out at the Blackpool conference. If you were there then you will know exactly what I am talking about.

The Party is without doubt in turmoil and decline. The votes are decreasing and the rate of councillors is not moving forward at the rate it should be. Too many councillors don’t get re-elected into their seats, so something is seriously going wrong.
The problem is the leadership or lack of it, there is no party structure, no shadow cabinet, regional, national organisation and accountability are extremely poor, basically the Party is not moving and growing as it should be now. It should be every true nationalist’s role, both within and outside of the Party, to do all that they can to remove Griffin from the position as Chairman. This is the only way to secure the Party’s future, so that a pro-democratic and anti-corrupt structure can be formed in his place.

I cannot tell you how to do this, but believe me you will not be on your own. I truly believe that there has never been a political leader in this country so hated by his own people.

Councillor Sadie Graham

Luke Smith - Rest in Peace

It brings us at Challenge for Leadership sadness to read of the death of ex-BNP councillor Luke Smith, who was found dead at 4pm Sunday 20th July in Burnley; he was 27 yrs old.

Luke was expelled from the BNP five years ago for violence; that violence sadly continued.
His passing at such a young age serves us with a miserable refection as to the state of our society and its slow degeneration in so many towns and cities where young people do not know how to find, or where to go for help; they have been effectively abandoned by the State.

Luke’s life, as we understand, was wrecked with drugs abuse; that life came to an end after he had finally suffered the torture of depression. That pain will surely continue now as his family and friends come to terms with this complete tragedy.

We at Challenge for Leadership are thinking of, and praying for Luke’s family and friends and hope that one day our society can learn from such terrible wastes of life.

RWB 2008, RIP Party Freedom?

It brings us great sadness to announce that the very fabric of our democratic and freedom loving Party could be formally torn in two and discarded at this years Red, White & Blue Festival.

Over the past few months, we have received information from a number of deeply concerned Party officials, that back in 2007 during Chris Jackson’s election campaign for Party Leader, that Mr Griffin was planning to change the constitution of the BNP immediately afterwards to make it impossible for further challenges to be made against him.

The temerity to challenge

Griffin was advised however, not to make such drastic amendments to our constitution because such a radical and open abuse of his position would undoubtedly lose him considerable support from the average Party member. No doubt that after such a conclusive victory over Mr Jackson, Griffin convinced himself that no other Party member would ever again have the temerity to dare stand against His Holiness and so lost interest. Alas, Mr Griffin, this was not to be the case.

I personally witnessed during the Jackson challenge, Griffin’s behaviour becoming aggressive, erratic and at times, entirely paranoid. This however was only a taste of what was to follow as we have seen with unethical decrees, bullying and expulsions used as weapons by him to silence his internal critics; this situation is not likely to become any easier for the long suffering membership.

Even with the realisation that Cllr Colin Auty’s 2008 challenge was unable to take flight, and even with his hand-picked faction of flatterers to pander to his devices, he has decided to now effectively destroy our Freedom of speech within the Party, remove the Security we had of knowing we were a viable alternative, destroy the Identity of our constitution, and insult Democracy itself, that same democracy that we are supposed to be fighting for.

Extraordinary General Meeting

It has been announced that at this year's RWB that Griffin has called an Extraordinary General Meeting with the aim of officially changing the Constitution of the Party, quote “With provision for the calling of an election at other times only by a sensible number of officials and councillors”

The ambiguity within this statement effectively boils down to the fact that if passed, would mean that the right of an individual Party member to stand as prospective Party leader is removed unless a ‘sensible number’ of officials and councillors approve. The question is, who decides on that number, and who decides who is or isn’t a Party Official? That’s right, none other than Mr Griffin himself!

This constitution change will be little more than an act using carefully placed smoke and mirrors to hide the truth from the membership. The remaining EGM agenda will simply be used to give it some other substance and to draw attention away from this hugely important issue as subtlety as possible and not to allow too much time to ask too many questions.

The riddle of the phantom tickets
......and with it another own goal

Driven more by sheer bemusement than anything else, I would like to pass comment on the quote made by Griffin’s appointed organiser of the RWB, printed in the Derbyshire Evening Telegraph, that the Party had already sold “4,000 advanced tickets to the RWB weekend”.

I’m sure we need not remind the event organiser that in fact the Party has sold none whatsoever, because no advance tickets are actually being sold this year! (Unless this has changed at the time of writing and the entire population of Welshpool have suddenly stumped up the money and bought a ticket each).

It would appear that either a little too much of the pre-festival spirit is flowing in the set-up gazebo as per norm, or the level of fear that the popularity of the leadership has waned to such a degree that there is a very real chance that many people are no longer willing to support it, and panic is starting to set in.

Manipulating the media to convey a positive image with such a free and convenient opportunity to convince more of the membership to attend, is a shrewd political move and is to be encouraged. However, blatant idiotic lies such as this are just inexcusable and will simply make the Party look foolish and amateurish when those very same media people arrive back at the gate on the RWB weekend to take photos of the ‘four thousand plus’ attendees on site and write an article about it!

Be aware and prepare

Every voting member that does attend Griffin’s EGM at the RWB weekend must make careful consideration on how they are going to vote on Griffin’s motion.

I predict that during the reasoning and deliberation of Griffin’s Leadership Challenge Constitution amendment, a great deal of pressure will be brought to bear on the attendees by Griffin’s inner faction who will take centre-stage one at a time and use coercion and subtle threats of expulsion to achieve the result their master so desires.

There will be talk of ‘Red infiltrators’ and ‘Searchlight moles’ posing as challengers that want to waste BNP money and cause division. There will be talk of ‘UAF/Marxist/Nazi elements’ crawling out of the woodwork to mount snap leadership challenges and any number of other bizarre Griffinism’s, phantoms and excuses. There may even be another Blackpool Conference red-faced "Are you with me!?" rant just to help pound home the message.

No amount of persuasion should be enough to pressurise our members that have retained their backbones, into accepting the surrender of our Party’s freedom and right to object in free and open debate.

What shall we do? Where can we go from here?

We are currently in a period of slow negative decline as a Party, but this does not have to be the case for much longer.

The political environment for nationalism in the UK has probably never been so positive and so many now prepared to accept the BNP. Our Party and our environment however, simply do not reflect one another; something is very wrong.

In a time of war, if the officer commanding fails time and time again to take the initiative, take the battle to the enemy, whilst haemorrhaging respect across the army; he is very speedily replaced. Why should our Cause and battle be any different?

Why should we be made to except tiny political gains or defeats time and time again and still that same self serving general remain rooted in command?

Our leadership can blame the ‘State’, it can blame ‘Reds’ or it can even blame ‘Hard-line Neo-Nazi’s, etc’ for their failure to convert this energy into widespread national election victories; but at the end of the day their failures are still their's.

Invest with electability

We must have a leadership built around our people’s qualities and skills, not their personal egos. It must be invested with electability not dragged down by political baggage, and above all else, in everything we do we must be seen as a professional, shrewd and a viable alternative to the Establishment. We must be self-critical when necessary and not rest on the laurels of a single man being elected onto the GLA, however pleasing and positive that may be to us.

Unless we can reorganise our Party with this in mind, we will not unlock our potential, but instead remain prisoners.

Be strong, stand by your convictions, at the next opportunity with that conviction in mind, vote to have Griffin and his coterie removed so we can rebuild our product, the British National Party, stronger and better than anything we have known before.

How times have changed, can anyone remember back to the early Red, White & Blue festivals in Wales?
The atmosphere was there, a sense of purpose and solidarity; it rained like hell but it didn’t matter because inside everyone was warm and fighting for the same cause and it felt fantastic.

I have attended every single RWB, and I always worked hard like many people for sometimes days leading up to the ‘big weekend’ itself as well as throughout it; it had to be one of the hardest week's work I would encounter during the year.
However, this year myself, along with a great many other ex-members and current members, will not be attending for various reasons.

Home truths

Several Party members have been in contact with the Challenge for Leadership team, and have expressed some very worrying home truths about the situation within the Party.
It has become abundantly clear that the Party is now in very serious financial trouble. The tone of desperation in the letters sent personally by Griffin to all and sundry indicate this with clarity. These ‘begging letters’ as they are referred to by Party members, have supposedly been designed by some high-flying marketing genius to get into people's minds and help relieve them of their cash.

Sorry, we are not that stupid Mr Griffin

However, these letters appear to have been wasted on the membership of our Party, that have to actually toil for their daily bread and are not as stupid as were first hoped, so it seems. One member contacted us and said, quote} "These bloody letters are an embarrassment, I’ll not pay another penny so he can go and waste it or lose another blimp"

It’s fascinating that although myself, along with many other people have been unconstitutionally thrown out of the Party without even the courtesy of a tribunal, and are not permitted to go near a Party function or meeting on the orders of Griffin, we all still regularly receive these ever desperate begging letters! An interesting situation indeed I’m sure everyone would agree.

To greater coincidence?

As mentioned before in a pervious article, the removal of John Walker as National Treasurer has almost certainly been a precautionary move by Griffin to enable himself, if he needs to, jump from the good ship BNP with his pockets full, should her current list on the political ocean become unrecoverable.

With the state of the Party coffers as they are, there is simply no other plausible explanation; the timing and coincidence are simply too great.

Again mentioned previously, why else has his lordship placed himself as the number one candidate in the region with the best chances of winning a seat in next year's European Elections, (without the region’s consent), if he is adamant that he should remain as Party Ruler-absolute? Is he honestly expecting us to believe that he is going to work as an extremely well paid member of the European Parliament, which is a full-time position, AND remain as Party Chairman here in the UK?

Does he believe that no other person in the whole of the BNP possesses the same ‘charming wit and proactive people skills’ to be able to hold down the job of chairman? Maybe he believes this to such an extent that he would sabotage any attempt at a lawful and constitutional leadership challenge with methods that would make Robert Mugabe sit up and take note?

RWB 2008 - cash on the door

This year's RWB appears to be a 'cash on the door' affair. No tickets are being sold beforehand which is quite remarkable as this was always a very helpful way for local branches and groups to pull some money into their accounts, as well as a great way to commit new members to attend and help wash away the media stigma– this is the very marrow of a successful and healthy branch or group.

We need to ask ourselves this, is the fact that cash disappears without a trace very easily that makes this such an attractive change to the RWB set-up? Or is it the blithering incompetence of the Treasury Department that has time and time again fouled up so many branch accounts after the RWB and taken months to clear up the mess, or perhaps there are other reasons we do not know of yet?

Predictions and lies

This year's Summer School took place in Wales, not a million miles away from Griffin’s back yard, the same site for the early RWBs. It was truly a blow to lose our previous excellent site in Nottinghamshire that the Party frequented for the first two Summer Schools, where shower facilities and flushing toilets made for a very comfortable weekend. This year, needless to say was not the success that had been witnessed previously. Griffin’s and Simon Darby’s spin on the event was as easy to see through as were the imaginary crowds of members that were supposed to have attended it.

Two hundred people were quoted to have been there throughout the weekend, up fifty on last year. We can confirm that this is not only an exaggeration, it is an out and out lie. We have it on very good authority that no more than ninety people attended; the photographs of the weekend speak for themselves, and anyone having trouble sleeping are encouraged to visit Simon Darby’s blog and have a look and read for themselves to verify this.

No shame

How can we as a Party have been reduced to our leader telling us lies simply to bolster up his own failing popularity? As a nationalist, does he not desire to see our country and people benefit from his actions and does not this desire override the selfishness and greed that all human beings are capable of surrendering themselves to?

A person in a lesser position would not have to worry too much as life has a way of creating it's own equilibrium; but for a person that potentially holds the future of British nationalism in his hands, such weakness and greed are simply unforgivable.

We do, we learn

We at Challenge for Leadership have learned a great deal in the last few months, and I can say we have been quite taken aback with what we have discovered taking place right under our noses for many years and not even realised. We have exposed and examined some of what we have found within the articles on this blog, and indeed encourage those that have not read them all thoroughly to find the time to do so if they can.

There is still some way to go before we can rid ourselves of a leader that has become little more than a millstone around the neck of modern British Nationalism. There remain many people that are still bought by the lie that the Party has no one better to replace what we currently have. These people need to ask themselves this; were can the origins of such blatant propaganda be found? We all know the answer to this question I think. We have the talent and the experience within the membership and now we must find it and use it.

King Colin, we salute you!

Councillor Colin Auty stood this year as candidate for the leadership challenge, and we along with a great many other people believe wholeheartedly, that he did a fantastic job. He did not withdraw his challenge although put under great pressure to do so; he did not show any weakness of any kind throughout what was a tough and very testing time for him and his family and he did us all proud.

The combination of threats from Griffin’s attack dogs and the fear that members would have their membership terminated, ultimately led to us failing to achieve the quota of one hundred signatures required to stand. Not to mention of course, that a great many people simply did not renew their membership from last year due the ‘purges debacle’ in December of last year of which many would have signed for Colin to stand.

If we had received a signature for every member that had either called us or emailed us with messages of support during the build up to this years campaign, we would have had a thousand!

Interestingly though, as a serving councillor Colin should have been regarded as an ‘Official of the Party’ therefore only needing ten. How can a man that holds a position in public office as a councillor voted in by tax-paying people not be recognised by the leadership as a political Party Official? This is one detail along with a great many others that a new leader that truly believes in freedom and democracy will set right. However, this is in the future, meanwhile we will ensure that this situation does not reoccur.

Round two - the 2009 campaign starts right here, right now!

The campaign will commence with the breaking down of barriers. Party members should never feel under pressure or threatened into silence by the very people that are supposed to be upholding freedom and democracy from within our organisation.

We will be encouraging the membership to express their worries and fears and come out in support of our 2009 campaign – our challenger is yet to be announced and will be kept quiet until it is necessary for him or her to proceed through the correct channels. Suffice to say that any disclosure at this very early stage would almost certainly see our prospective challenger ‘purged’ from the Party through one excuse or another.

Over the next few months we will continue to strive towards saving our Party, because it is worth everything to us - future and hope for our families, and future and hope for our country and we absolutely will NOT abandon it just at the time when it needs us the most.

Dear Richard,
Thank you for your kind words.
To be honest I feel elated that a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders in the form of BNP membership.
It confers no benefit but, due to Griffin and co, only opprobrium from ones peers for being a member of such an organisation! In reality, it should bring pride that one is prepared to make a stand for the culture and well being of our great nation and its people whilst being mindful that we have a duty of care to those less fortunate than ourselves.
I despair of the fact that this is a Christian country yet our Church leaders are blind to the creeping Islamification, not only of Britain, but of the whole of Europe. Do they not know their history? Have they not heard of Charles Martell or Jan Sobieski? Do they not realise that they are weakening the very foundation stones of our civilisation by acquiescing to a medieval misogynistic cult?

In our recent history, since re-admitting Jews, we have tolerated other Religions and allowed them to go about their business quietly and unhindered. In return they do not proselytise.
This is not true of Islam whose 1.6 million adherents in this country appear to deem it their right to object to anything which disturbs their sensibilities and to which our spineless masters answer in the most obsequious terms, without even considering the long term implications of their appeasement.
Take for instance the latest absurdity being considered, that police sniffer dogs should wear booties when entering Muslim premises!

To return to your letter, it was inevitable that I was going to be "purged" and I deliberately attended the "tribunal" to obtain a final closure from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
It saddened me that there were several good people there, (apart from the duplicitous Andy McBride who was scathing of Griffin and constantly extolled Sadie's virtues until it came to decision time), and who really thought that they were acting in the best interest of the party but in reality were, and are, being duped.

This brings me on to Colin's challenge.
I do think, with hindsight, that perhaps we should have been more aggressive from the outset. By the time I had received information from around the country that the vast majority of those who we were relying on to sign Colin's Nomination Form had not renewed their membership it was too late to retrieve the situation.

What is even more frustrating is that I am sitting on damning evidence which would probably have won the day had I made it public; indeed, it would have put a different complexion on the "tribunal" had I divulged the contents of the dossier in my possession.
However, I chose not to do so as my mole, who is very senior within the Party, is still active and to have done so would have unmasked the person.

Moving forward, we must consider our options. Jim, Ivan and Neil have already set the ball rolling in their neck of the woods and Ivan informs me that they are in contact with others across the North. I am in discussion with others as to the way forward, indeed, I had two phone calls from supporters yesterday evening whilst I was at a meeting. One from the South Coast and one from the South Midlands. It is my sincere belief that we can move forward very rapidly without the albatross of Griffin and his sycophants around our necks as there are already pledges of financial support on the table.

Over the next few days I propose to write a narrative of my reasons for supporting Colin and why I arrived at such a decision which, hopefully, will go up on the blog.
In the meantime we will keep in close contact and I will fully appraise everyone of the developments.

Colin's Campaign Manager Expelled

News comes in that Cllr. Roger Robertson, who acted as Colin Auty's Campaign Manager, has been expelled from the BNP following his appearance at an internal Party disciplinary meeting yesterday.

Cllr. Robertson will be filing a fuller report in due course, but it is clear that the Leadership is ready to purge anyone who is unwilling to demonstrate sufficient personal loyalty to Griffin himself, reinforcing the increasingly widespread view that the BNP is not a democratic political party but the personal plaything of Griffin.

I regret to inform those members and supporters of the BNP that, this evening, 30th June, after consultation with Colin, we have acknowledged that there will not be a challenge to Nick Griffin's leadership in 2008.

It is extremely disappointing that the challenge fell short by just a few signatures; a major factor being that many members have failed to renew their 2008 subscriptions plus the fact that the churn rate of the membership precludes many who do not have the requisite 2 years qualification to become a voting member.

Colin was the ideal candidate to lead our Party out of the wilderness after 9 years of stultifying slow growth under the present Chairman.

I will not here dilate upon the reasons for the challenge to Nick Griffin's leadership.
This will come next week after my 'tribunal' on 6th July when I become an ex-member of the BNP.

Suffice it to say that both Colin and myself wish to thank most sincerely those nearly 90 people who had the courage to put their names to Colin's nomination.

We may well have lost the first skirmish but the battle for a democratic BNP is far from over.

Nick Griffin’s announcement - ‘New National Dispatch and Logistics Manager’

…….in other words ‘BNP National Treasurer – Dispatched!’

Should anyone of us be in anyway shocked that John Walker has been suddenly demoted and ‘outsourced’ to a different role just as the financial situation within the Party is reaching critical?

Poor John, but to be fair, his removal from his position has almost certainly been on the cards for quite a while. He has been privy to a great deal of the shady and downright deceitful dealings of Mr Griffin over the last couple of years, so much so in fact that Griffin has been, for sometime, completely perplexed on how he is going to get rid of him without risking John doing the honourable thing and exposing the corruption and pressure that he has himself been compliant with for so long. Doing this would be the first step towards handing back our Party to the people that are funding it, that are now finding it increasingly difficult to keep it floating on the political ocean.

Griffin’s modus operandi

In the past, whenever Griffin wanted to purge a person from the Party that he thought may pose a future risk to him in some way, or had become too popular with the membership, the solution was simple for him. He would merely isolate the victim by concocting lies about them concerning financial ‘irregularities’ (somewhat ironically), aimed carefully at his victim before unleashing his attack-dogs to finish the job with personal attacks and slanderous gossip.

Occasionally the victim would then be pulled apart at an Advisory Council meeting in their absence complete with the customary ‘such a shame’ crocodile tears. Without being afforded the opportunity to defend themselves, the victim would be cast out as a leper from the Party. Those sat around the AC table, however shocked or confused that the ‘evidence’ spewed out regarding one of their comrades is entirely unsubstantiated, would very often sit in silence through fear of becoming the next victim. This is a standard Griffin modus operandi, as many of his decent and hardworking victims have been only too happy to confirm and share with us.

The black hole of amateurish gimmicks

In John’s case however, Griffin is going to attempt to move far more stealthily to get rid of him and quieten him up in the longer term. I can guarantee that there would have been plenty of prep-work to start with - buttering John up about how wonderful he is and what a great job he did, etc. How it is not fair for him to bear such a heavy load any longer and that his wonderful skills should now be used to fill this ‘new role’ that just happened to become available along with all the benefits that such a demanding new task would bring, etc. Nevertheless, Griffin knows that this alone would not give him the assurance that he seeks; this is only a short term solution to a long term predicament.

As we already know, it is Griffin who pulls all the strings and ‘balances’ the Party books, it is he alone that decides where our money is spent, and even if it is thrown into his black hole of amateurish gimmicks more akin to the activities of the Monster Raving Loony Party than a serious political alternative, no one is ever afforded the opportunity to find out exactly what such stunts cost us; the books are always cooked to a crisp and kept under lock and key.

A hatchet over our heads

As previously touched upon in other articles on this blog, one may be forgiven for wondering why the State allows such activities to continue under its nose. Whether the simple fact that it is so clearly obvious that our Party will never become an actual viable alternative while it is run by a crook, that makes it so attractive for the State to just sit back and monitor us, is definitely food for thought.

So, if the State wanted to, it could move dynamically against the Party’s curious funding appropriations, but instead it chooses to do nothing whatsoever; so what greater proof could there be that we are on the state ‘dangle’?
I believe that this will be one trapdoor that it will pull from underneath us only if it really needs to in the future.

Having such a hatchet hanging over our heads cannot and will not create for us the positive environment in which we need to grow.

Paranoia

The fact that Mr Walker’s signature would pop-up like a bad case of the measles, thus implicating him in any illegal activities should they be found during any thorough investigation, is still not enough to appease the paranoia of Mr Griffin. I believe that this new role that has been created by Griffin to sweeten and keep an eye on John will be a short lived one. As we speak, Griffin will be examining ways of ridding himself of him permanently. If the Advisory Council will be of no help then maybe a cry of ‘Who will rid me of this turbulent ex-treasurer!’ within earshot of the Security Tent at this year’s RWB may just do the trick? Who knows.

Over the last few months, many members and ex-members from various regions that had held different posts from activists through to regional organisers and councillors have been in contact with us. Many have expressed their despair at the financial situation within the Party. Many have commented that money is simply now the only driving factor behind Nick Griffin’s façade of modern British Nationalism.

Indeed, it is many peoples belief that he is now simply tucking away and investing as much capital as he can in various ventures and little nest-eggs etc, while he still can. Griffin knows, as do many people, that the sun always eventually sets on all empires and regimes regardless to however large or small they may be. When it happens it is very advantageous for the totalitarian that presided over it to be in a comfortable position ready to point the finger at someone else from the safety of an overseas bolt-hole with money in the bank; this can be seen throughout history. Alternativey, a person facing such a dilemma could find a very comfortable and well paid position and home, once again abroad, a very welcome prospect indeed; a seat in the European Parliament may do nicely for example?

One last point

If Mr Walker regards his freedom and self-preservation as of high importance, he had best follow Griffin’s grubby lead and orchestrate and prepare so that ‘Mutually Assured Destruction’ would be the outcome for them both should John feel the press of sharpened steel against his back in the not too distant future.

This would probably be his most effective, if not his only way of guarding against a now very ruthless and desperate man.

Good luck John, we think you’re going to need it.

Statement from Cllr. Colin Auty

I received a phone call from a guy the other day (it is not right to mention his name without his permission) and he asked why certain issue's were on the challenge blog-site. I had to stop him and start again as I was somewhat confused as to what he was saying - the issues were over a few lines about drug dealers and regional officials, and another was over Martin Reynolds. I asked who he represented and he told me ‘covert’ something or other - he appeared somewhat surprised I had not heard of them. I apologised, as I honestly don't have time to surf the internet looking at left, right or centre sites - I have more than enough work to keep me busy as a Councillor in Dewsbury believe me!

I explained that I didn’t know of the complaint he made and I explained that I had been recovering from an operation and was stuck in bed - therefore I had not seen the site in days. He apologised for disturbing me (which I respect him for) and I told him I would have it removed if it caused ill feeling. This is something that has been done on other occasions when items have slipped through. I explained that I thought the world of Martin and Lindsey Reynolds, who along with John Powell have looked after my safety on many occasions. If I have concerns over security, it is only what my voters’ perception is of them (another issue perhaps for another day) - my personal opinion is that they, along with all security personnel, are gold-dust.

At this point I would like to clarify a few points - and this applies to the ‘covert’ people as well. I refuse on any web/blog site in my name to get into any mud-slinging or petty agenda's, along with members’ names being mentioned in vain with or without substance - it is NOT professional. I have met, within the party many diamonds, some uncut and some polished - oh and also a Duchess (Marlene Guest in Rotherham). Some of these will not agree with my challenge whilst others welcome it, democracy allows for that. Then there are others too intimidated to say anything, which is frightening.

I do, however, feel very strongly about the behaviour of senior BNP Officials. Someone sent me a link to the blog of Lee Barnes, which displayed an article from the 5th May that alleged I am just a puppet, along with many other disgraceful remarks. You, Mr. Barnes, are an embarrassment - not only to your alleged profession, but also to this Party. It was totally unacceptable behaviour from what one would expect from a ‘legal representative’. If our Chairman believes it acceptable, then I fear for our Party and children’s future. The fact that the blog which Lee Barnes writes on is linked to the main BNP website suggests that the present BNP hierarchy condones the use of vile language and playground insults.

Eddy Butler is another official whose behaviour is very disturbing - telling members not to sign my nomination papers, and stating I should be starved of publicity. This is not the behaviour either myself, or other members, should expect from the BNP Elections Officer. Because of your position, you should be impartial Sir, straight down the middle, leaning neither way, supporting neither candidate. If you cannot carry out your position to the highest degree, unbiased and with dignity, I suggest you resign your position and allow someone more capable to fill the vacancy. You may plead that you have a right to air your personal views yet on the issue of oppressing a candidate in internal elections, no you have not. They should remain personal when you take such a position; otherwise you make a biased opinion and undermine internal democracy. I and other members fight tooth and nail against the Establishment every council election for the very thing you have just done. What are we fighting for? You should be ashamed, along with our Chairman for condoning your actions. On a last note, in two years as Councillor I have never endured such vitriol from the ‘left’ that I have from sections of my own party. My crime? Standing a legitimate challenge –which is not a crime, it is my right.

Quiet tones and attack-dogs

Almost as a prerequisite to achieving position and status in British politics, is the ability to damage your opponents so he or she cannot hold high ground over you on important policies. It is certainly not a new tactic, and it is well and truly enshrined into the very fabric of British politics.

‘Sleaze’ is a fairly new addition to the terminology used to describe the activities of one politician attacking his or her competitors using any means possible in order to do so. Sometimes attacks by one political party on another are disastrous to individuals and campaigns, but curiously, sometimes they in fact appear to propel individuals if the victim is able to convert such negative energy into fuel for breaking into new ground such as winning the left or ‘liberal vote’ when for example indecent sexual acts are proven or admitted to, propelling them on with the help of their hired ‘spin-doctors’; or professional liars as I prefer to call them.

All is fair in love and war?

Unlike political attacks from outside rival parties, internal disputes are very often a result of clashes of personality or inspired by an individuals greed or fear of being pushed aside by the ambitions of others. The ‘kill or be killed’ or ‘Dog eat dog’ philosophies/instincts tend to kick-in whenever rivalries, overtly of covertly, are inevitably heading towards horn-locking. There are no rules so it seems when the darkness of a persons calculated greed are unlocked.

Domestic crisis

When we look back through history, the most bloody and destructive wars and conflicts are often domestic in nature, the American Civil War serves us with a perfect example; politics are no different.

The methods that have been, and are being employed during what can be best described as one of the British National Party’s most tumultuous periods of internal dissent, have seen tactics and mug-slinging that have needed those responsible to stoop very low in order to scoop it up and throw it.

Whenever a dictator has been exposed, he or she will usually react with complete totalitarianism that will often surpass their previous conduct. This is because the veneer of ‘democracy’ that had served a purpose to them previously no longer has any. Once discarded, outright breeches of constitutions and illegal activities are then often spewed out thick and fast, almost with a ‘nothing to lose’ mentality.

Such reactions can be seen throughout history wherever a regime under one dictator is in serious decline. Stalin and the mass murder he directly presided over, through to the Nazi Gestapo that turned on and killed any of its own countrymen that even so much as raised an eyebrow against Hitler’s dying self-destructive reign of power.

Ever since Mr Griffin took control of the Party with promises of ‘democracy’ and ‘openness’ etc, the actual episodes that he has presided over are quite shocking.

Those that have yet to read the previous articles on this blog, I invite now to spend some time doing so to gain a true grasp of what exactly we are dealing with here.

A climate of fear

Colin’s campaign is being fought as a quiet internal revolution, fought through word of mouth, the internet, members, friends and families speaking in quiet tones in the corridors of Party meetings, e-mail and text messages. Colin’s challenge is inspiring to many Party members and the mere fact that the people cannot openly discuss the issues Colin is raising through the fear that Griffin will have them purged and ostracised from the Party, have created a climate of fear.

We know this because it is Colin and his team that have continued to receive a steady stream of supportive emails and messages from Party members and supporters that wish to remain completely anonymous!

Griffin’s attack dogs

Another weapon other than just simple fear that is being used to try and trample down those seeking answers to the questions that Colin’s campaign is raising, is bully-boy internet tactics by Griffin’s hired attack dogs.

It has been brought to the attention of Colin’s campaign team, that money has or still is being paid to certain individuals, if they attack and try to assassinate the characters of Party people as requested by either Griffin himself or one or more of his close sycophants. I will not link or even mention the blog that has been set up by such vile individuals that are on the pay-role of a dictator, but suffice to say that those of us that have been unfortunate enough to stumble over it would I’m sure be more than happy to wish that they never had.

The vile childlike garbage that can be found under such stones is quite literally in a league of its own and simply cannot get any lower. Personal insults, lies, abuse and even references to peoples loved ones. Utterly sickening.

Proof needed?

Each and everyone attacked there have been in the past, or are still active in awaking the Party membership to the true character of Griffin and the deviousness and purges that are quickly becoming his trade mark. Those that have yet to dare to question him, or have remained quietly obedient are never mentioned on it, or if they are any comments made are only passive and praising, regardless to the truth whatever it may be. A mere rudimentary study of it plainly reveals who is behind its instigation.

A message - We are not scared of bullies!

Colin and his campaign team took on the role of working towards removing Griffin’s grasp around the Party with eyes wide open. Each of us in our own way have come to learn the facts about him personally, because many of us have been on the receiving end of his bullying and maltreatment or have witnessed decrees and decisions that fall entirely outside of the ethos of nationalism and family values that we are supposed to represent and encourage wherever possible.

None of us have ever been in any doubt that the lies and mud that will and already have been slung at us has come from the very bottom of the pond. Not one of us are going to let such moronic personal attacks on us divert us in anyway whatsoever from our goal which is Griffin’s removal as Chairman of the British National Party.

He can continue to hire cowardly flotsam and jetsam cranks from across the web to pitch attacks against us if he wishes; but it will be to no avail whatsoever. For every such attack simply encourages us further because as every good nationalist campaigner will know – you only ever take flak when you are over the target.

A leader in crisis

“Are you with me?” demanded a clearly worried, purple-faced Party Leader who in November 2007 in his final address at the BNP Conference in Blackpool was even back then clearly displaying signs of both megalomania and paranoia and when the first response from a thoroughly stunned audience was too feeble for Mr. Griffin’s liking he roared again “Are you with me?”. The second response was far more voluble and clearly to His Lordship’s satisfaction, immediately switching his barely concealed sneer of contempt to a broad beaming smile at the adulation heaped upon him by a Party faithful of 200 or so members; new and old alike, confused whether they should humour him or silently head for the exit.

Any one who has ever ventured out into the beautiful wild landscapes of these islands with a group of friends and associates, perhaps as Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, in the military or just an informal weekend hill walking group will appreciate the value of placing trust in the person with the map. The lead man (or woman) with the OS map and these days the GPS device can get the group safely over the streams, avoid the danger spots, along the dry and leeward paths to the goal which may be a trig point on a mountain top, a camping site, a refueling station or a cosy country pub. The person who claims and then demonstrates his or her abilities to get the group to the goal is respected and valued, even if not personally liked by everyone in his or her group. Screw up, lead the group into a dangerous gully or a midge infested bog and then blame the weather, the map itself or someone else in the group for his own failings is the quickest way to lose any respect and earn contempt instead.

A leader of a political party which seeks to bring about revolutionary changes to the way our country is governed, the way our society is conducted and which seeks the absolute security for the indigenous peoples in our island homeland is bound to attract condemnation, belittlement and derision. It goes with the job.

Such condemnation, belittlement and derision is expected from that Party’s natural political opposition but when serious doubts about the Leader’s competence arise within the membership and attracts opprobrium from a rapidly growing number of that individual’s former colleagues and associates the ability of the man with the map is in question. Is the group still on course to get to its original destination? Has bad weather created such an obstacle to the wayfaring that the group had better seek shelter and sit out the rough patch? Has the man with map decided to change the destination without telling the group who are suffering hail from above and boggy ground from below, being ravaged by biting insects and risking the occasional rock fall as they follow the man with the map? Perhaps the man who started out with the map has lost his way and has blamed God, the weather, the makers of the map and a score of people in the group rather than admit the mistake to himself and to the group?

Respect earned never demanded

A good leader who wishes to remain in office will do everything possible to earn and maintain the respect of his close team of advisers and lieutenants, will do everything possible to earn and maintain respect from the wider mass membership who ultimately pay his wages through their annual subscriptions and furthermore will do everything to earn the albeit begrudging respect of rational political opponents, free thinking media commentators and the wider electorate who are unsurprisingly deeply cynical about any party politician, thanks to the stench of the greed, corruption and sleaze emanating from the inhabitants of the Palace of Westminster.

One thing a mature, long-sighted leader will never do and that is demand respect and loyalty. Only someone so paranoid, so superficial and insecure would demand that which is always earned and never freely given.

The Leader of the British National Party is now so lacking in confidence about the loyalty of those around him, so mistrusting of the officials and officers he has either appointed directly or indirectly that he is asking branch and regional organisers to test the loyalty of the Party’s own activists by getting each one to sign what is effectively an oath of allegiance to the Party’s current regime.

In the past 24 hrs the Party’s Head of Administration has sent out scores of “activist declaration” forms to regional organisers in a bid to test the allegiance of officials and foot soldiers. In echoes of Matthew Hopkins infamous 17^th century witch trials anyone failing to sign the form will be assumed to be guilty, a trouble maker and a rebel and will be marked for demotion, suspension and expulsion. Anyone signing it and later regretting it will be marked for demotion, suspension and expulsion.

It is a further attempt to flush out all dissent within the Party, to tighten the grip on those who have given up thinking for themselves and will blindly follow over moor and mountain, through swamp and fen regardless of the ultimate destination, if indeed there is one.

Contempt for freedom and democracy

The BNP once claimed to stand for freedom, security, identity and democracy; the four fundamental pillars of nationalism. This absurd test of allegiance demonstrates clearly what the current Leader thinks of freedom for everyone other than himself. His recent and as yet unsuccessful attempts to derail a leadership challenge mounted by Councillor Colin Auty demonstrates clearly what the current Leader thinks about democracy in the organisation he is leading.

The activist’s declaration form strangely includes “I will do nothing to embarrass the Party”. It is unclear whether this will be retrospectively applied as it has not prevented The Great One from:

Overturning the lawful and valid disciplinary action against Mark Collett and Dave Hannam who brought the Party into disrepute after picking up two under age schoolgirls in Blackpool in November 2006.
Tolerating the existence of a handful of “bad backers” in various positions – spongers claiming benefits from the State while being paid cash in hand and getting expenses reimbursed by the Party Treasury.
Tolerating a totally incompetent Treasury Department which still manages to enrage scores of fundholders of local groups up and down the country; a department which cannot get its submissions to the Electoral Commission (EC) on time thereby incurring fines paid by members’ dues.

Bragging about the huge amount of money donated to the Party earlier this year but claiming just ONE permissible donation in its submissions to the EC for the first quarter of the year.
Actively promoting a supposed “Director” of its “Legal Department” who has made nationalism a derisory term by way of his endless hate-filled self-promoting rants combined with his supposed prophetic genius that the Second Coming is due to happen in 2012 and makes so many grammatical errors that he would never last one single day in a proper office job let alone a functioning law firm.
Joining the same globalisation highway as our political enemies which makes a virtue out of saving money by off-shoring goods and services as is evidenced by the latest wheeze of sending BNP officials to training courses in Valencia, Spain because “it’s cheaper than conducting a similar exercise in the UK”.

In reality from a legal point of view the declaration is not worth the paper it is written on and we have heard that so far not a single one of these forms has been completed and returned to the Supreme Leader’s HQ in Deeside. Perhaps the days following the Bank Holiday weekend will see the full scale of the disillusionment with the current regime in which case we can expect many more ludicrous edicts and acts associated with paranoia and megalomania.

How much more nonsense will the decent, long suffering members tolerate?

The following piece was originally a post comment sent to this blog by a long term Party supporter called Marcia.

It’s an excellent short narrative, and so in order to give it full justice we have instead posted it as an article.

It clearly spells out the frustrations and serious concerns about the future of our Party if it remains as it is today, little more than a plaything to serve the personal ambitions of one man.

The membership are now finally waking to the reality of the situation, and an increasing number are finding the courage to break the chains that have been thrown around the membership and speak out. We encourage others like Marcia to come forward and use their voice.

Only with the implementing of a democratic and accountable leader will the people of our Party be afforded the freedom they deserve.

Ordinary Folk

I am just an ordinary person. I am someone’s daughter, wife, mother, sister, colleague and friend. I am not an academic but I am well educated and love to read. I was brought up in a loving, supportive family with a strong sense of justice and independence. I have never taken my good fortune in that regard for granted.

I listened in on hours of political debate between my Dad and Uncle, who had completely different viewpoints. I absorbed it and then made my own conclusions, although I was never that politically inclined, I didn't need to be but I never wasted my precious vote. Back then I had political party policy choices and politicians that were not consumed by image, spin and greed. It was never perfect but I had choices and a vote that counted.

There have been times in my life when I have felt such a strong sense of injustice and community spirit that I have made a stand and have been quite surprised at my commitment.

In recent times though, I have seen a severe decline in our Nation’s core values and beliefs. There is a ‘sameness’ between our main political parties and I think that has contributed to the decline. We seem to have become compliant, accepting political corruption and deceit, our laws are abused, capitalism and corporate greed are condoned and political correctness has stifled our freedom to speak out. Politics is now a career choice for self enhancement and benefit.

I have never wanted to live anywhere else but this magnificent Country. I enjoyed the freedom I had to make what I wanted of my life. I learnt about our heritage, our artists, inventors and engineers and loved the different regional accents, the British sense of humour and the sense of belonging. Mostly, I was appreciative of those past generations who had given so much to retain the status quo.

Now I worry about my children and future grand-children’s future. They should have the right I had to be able to afford to live and work, contribute and thrive in their own country where they feel they belong.

We needed a political party that had a truly democratic structure and constitution and that held the same views and values as ordinary folk. I thought I had found it in the BNP. I wasn’t distracted by its critics and their politically correct attacks and misrepresentation, if any representation at all. I and the rest of my family attended meetings and dug deep to financially support and we subscribed to Voice of Freedom and Identity BUT IT WASN’T TO BE and I am bitterly disappointed..

The Party needs a Leader who surrounds themselves with intelligent, moral and passionate people. They need commonsense and be one of those they represent so they have had the same experiences. They must have courage, compassion, determination, be prepared to listen and learn. Above all else they must put others before themselves.

Leaders are only as good as those advisors and supporters around them.

The purging has commenced

Cllr. Roger Robertson, the former South-East Regional Organiser, has been told that he faces a disciplinary tribunal this summer as the BNP looks to expel yet another hard working and well respected nationalist. Cllr. Robertson is the campaign manager for Cllr. Colin Auty and this seems to have led to yet another shocking decision being taken by the BNP leadership.

Despite yet another instance emerging of the party being nothing more than a dictatorship, the campaign will go on regardless. Nowhere does it state that the campaign manager for an internal election has to be a member of the party. That said, Roger is very confident that a fair and balanced tribunal, if such a thing could exist at the present time, will find him not guilty of the ‘charges’ brought against him, and Roger will continue to be a member in good standing.

It seems that someone, somewhere is doing all they can to ensure the status quo within the BNP and to stifle any opposition. However, the fight to get an open, accountable, transparent and democratic BNP will go on. More news on this latest twist will follow once it becomes available.

The BNP Constitution – A Dictator’s Dream

This text below is taken straight from the BNP Constitution. It provides a startling insight into how much power the Chairman has in accordance with the Constitution, and helps explain how any person with that said power could easily be corrupted by it.

Anybody who would prefer either a democracy or a meritocracy over a dictatorship will be shocked at just how much power is given to the National Chairman.

SECTION 3: PARTY LEADERSHIP

1) Once elected, the National Chairman shall have full executive power over all the affairs of the party. This will include:-

(a) Power of appointment to all other executive offices in the party, with the exception of the Party Auditor, who shall be appointed by the Advisory Council as specified in Section 5 and who shall not be the same person as the National Treasurer. These include the Directors of Group Development & Regulation, Administration & Publicity, the National Press Officer and the National Treasurer as well as any other offices which may need to be created as the situation demands. Not all such appointments need necessarily be made by the elected National Chairman directly. They may also be made by subordinate officials. Nevertheless, all such appointments, direct and indirect, are made upon the authority of the elected National Chairman and may be over-ruled by him.

(b) Power to determine, and where necessary change, all organisational structures within the party and to determine all rules and procedures whereby such structures are governed.

(c) Power to determine all routine executive, administrative, policy and tactical decisions made by the party.

(d) Power to determine, and where necessary change, all policies relating to the political objectives of the party whilst remaining within the framework set out in Section 1 of this Constitution.

2) While the elected National Chairman may at his discretion delegate decision making powers to individual colleagues or to assemblies of his colleagues where he feels that such decisions may be better made, the elected National Chairman shall have ultimate and final authority upon any decision made.

The BNP has become, due to the hard work of all its activists (the current Chairman included) a major political party. However, even though the Party has grown in terms of popularity, the internal structure and mechanisms of the Party have stagnated, and even crumbled under the heavy weight. When the Party had a few hundred members, the current Constitution did the job, even though it was still a million miles away from being democratic. However, now the Party has thousands of members, and many more people of skill, talent, and experience, the Constitution is seriously outdated.

In fact, the current role of National Chairman is seriously outdated. Gone are the times when the Chairman could be here, there and everywhere. Gone are the times when he could head up all the main day to day operations, and also lead on policy and press relations. Quite simply, the situation at present is that because the current Chairman is trying to control everything, that the Party is suffocating and good people are being over looked for roles that the Chairman either tries to do himself, or fills with people whom he can easily control.

Section 3 of the Constitution basically says that the Chairman appoints everyone, has sole control over everything, can over-rule any decision, and is responsible for the entire running of the party, with ‘power to determine all routine executive, administrative, policy and tactical decisions made by the party’. This is simply absurd. While the position of National Chairman should be the most prestigious and indeed the most powerful, in no terms whatsoever should it give the Chairman sole control.

The Constitution needs changing so that the Party is split into three arms – an executive, a political, and a judicial arm. The Chairman should head the Political arm, an elected Party Manager should head the Executive arm, and an elected team of scrutinisers should oversee both previous arms and also head up the Judicial arm. This would bring about democracy, it would give people a chance to vote at different levels within the Party, and it would also take overall power away from the Party Chairman, even though he would still be a very powerful person. It would mean that rather than having the potential for one person with great talent running the show, there would be the potential for many more, with different people responsible for different things.

SECTION 4: ELECTIONS TO THE PARTY LEADERSHIP

1) Any member of the party may become a candidate for the post of National Chairman of the party provided that person has served a term totalling 5 years' continuous membership of the party and is a party office holder as defined in Section 7 of this constitution. Should a member not be an office holder, then he may still become a candidate for the post if he first obtains 100 instead of the usual 10 signatures. No exception to these rules may be made unless it is with the consent of the currently serving National Chairman of the party,

2) Any such candidate must submit his nomination to the party's Head Office not earlier than 31st May, and not later than 30th June of any year. This nomination must be signed by the candidate and counter signed by a proposer and a seconder, both of whom must have served a term of membership of the party as specified in Sub-section 1 of this Section, and by 10 other members of the party who have served not less than 2 years' membership.

Thankfully, this part of the Constitution allows for a yearly Leadership Challenge. However, after speaking to those who were part of the 2007 Leadership Challenge, it seems that the National Chairman made a free and fair election nothing more than a pipe dream. A recent statement from the current BNP Elections Officer, who should be impartial to internal elections, stated that the BNP should not give the current challenger publicity, and that people should not sign his nomination forms. He also labelled the challenger a ‘joke candidate’. This is an absolute disgrace, and shows that the mentality of the leadership really needs to change.

SECTION 6: DISCIPLINE

1) The disciplinary code of the party is embodied in the Code of Conduct, which comprises Annex 1 of this Constitution.

2) Once the constitutionally defined internal disciplinary mechanisms of the party as outlined in this Section are exhausted in regard to the disciplinary procedures and proceedings, then the decision of the disciplinary tribunal is final and binding on the member concerned. As such, members (including those who have been disciplined or expelled) legally affirm and agree that they will not seek any external legal (or non legal) review of any disciplinary tribunal decision or its procedures. They also agree and affirm that they will accept the decision of any disciplinary tribunal as final and binding.

3) Members who have offended against the Code of Conduct or otherwise acted in a manner contrary to the interests of the party shall be liable to disciplinary sanction.

4) Ultimate authority to determine how the "interests of the party" as specified in the above Sub-section and in Section 2, Sub-section 5, may be defined rests with the elected National Chairman of the party or will any official or group of officials and/or members of the party authorised by him to art in that capacity.

We have recently seen a situation whereby committed nationalists, and in many cases, party workers, have been expelled from the BNP without having the chance to have a fair and impartial disciplinary hearing. They have not had any evidence brought against them. Their ‘crime’ was to criticise the Party Chairman. The latest round of expulsions were the most severe to date, yet they have been preceded by many others. This has led to a situation where there are as many talented nationalists outside of the BNP as there are in it. This is absurd, when we should all be fighting on the same side, and is a direct result of the current Chairman expelling people at will who he does not like or get along with. Anyone who he considers a threat usually gets expelled with a complete character assassination so that their name is blackened within nationalist circles.

Note part 4 of the above which states that the “interests of the party” are defined by the Chairman, or those authorised by him. It is easy to see how the “interests if the party” can easily become the “interest of the National Chairman”. There are simply no checks and balances to this power which has been so abused by the current Chairman. How can the expulsion of so many decent nationalists over the years, when all procedures have not even been started, never mind exhausted, be justified as “in the interests of the party”?

SECTION 13: GENERAL MEMBERS'MEETINGS

4) Any changes in Sections 1,4, 5 or 13 of this Constitution must be approved by a two-thirds majority vote of members attending a General Members' Meeting. Any member wishing to submit a resolution incorporating such change or changes for inclusion on the agenda of such a meeting must first obtain consent from the elected National Chairman for such inclusion, having in the first place submitted the resolution for consideration in accordance with Sub-section 6 of this Section.

This part of the Constitution outlines the fact that the Constitution can be altered by a vote at a General Members Meeting. This is incorrect, as general members are not necessarily voting members, and thus they can’t alter the Constitution. However, note again the fact that the National Chairman can either accept or refuse a resolution at whim – giving him sole power over everything once more. Even if a region was unanimous in its decision about a resolution, if the current Chairman did not want it to be discussed, it would not be discussed. End of story.

SECTION 14: REVISIONS TO THIS CONSTITUTION

1) Consideration will regularly be given to changes in this Constitution for the purpose of improving the functional efficiency of the party. Final authority to determine such changes, however, will rest with the elected National Chairman - saving those Sections protected by Section 13, Sub-section 4.

2) Any changes made to this Constitution by a majority vote at a properly convened General Members' Meeting shall be effective from the time the vote is taken. Changes made by the elected National Chairman shall take effect following publication in a Members' bulletin. The revised Constitution in either case must then be published and made available within 30 days.

Here we again see the unrestrained power given to the current Chairman by the outdated Constitution. Worryingly, part 2 also states that the Chairman can make changes to the Constitution whenever he wants – all he must do is advertise the changes in the members’ bulletin within thirty days! Thus, while everyone else must submit a resolution to the Chairman, to see if he agrees that it can be discussed and voted on, the Chairman himself can alter the Constitution at ease, without the approval of anyone else.

ANNEX 1: CODE OF CONDUCT

5) PROSCRIPTIONS

(a) The National Chairman may proscribe individuals, organisations or publications which are so hostile to the party, or whose views and or behaviour are so likely to bring discredit upon the party, that members should have no contact with them.

(b) Such a hostile individual, publications or group is thenceforth regarded as a rotten apple and proscription is the means by which they are prevented from contaminating others. Not only are the proscribed barred from attending party functions and activities, but party members are barred from attending events organised by them and barred from sharing platforms with them, distributing or advertising literature and electronic media produced by or in support of them, and promoting events at which they are known or - in the opinion of the party leadership - likely to be attending.

(c) Proscriptions shall come into effect on publication in the National members' bulletin and remain in force until further notice. A full list appears on the party's website.

And finally, just in case anyone feels hard done by due to the decision taken “in the interests of the Party” as decided solely by the National Chairman, the National Chairman can prevent anyone from even contacting those expelled by proscribing them. This, of course, is again completely at the discretion of; you guessed it, the National Chairman. Possibly the reason that the Party website does not carry a list of all those expelled is because there would not be a web page big enough to show it!

In conclusion, I am sure that even the most ardent supporters of the current National Chairman must agree that this Constitution makes a complete mockery of natural justice, and needs seriously updating. How can complete power rest solely with one man? How can we convince the public that the BNP is a serious democratic political party when we have a Constitution that essentially allows for a complete dictatorship?

The current leadership challenger, Cllr Colin Auty, would revamp the current Constitution so that the Party would be much more democratic with a democratically elected Chairman, Party Manager, and Scrutiny Panel, and a separation of powers between them. There would also be a much fairer process in regard to discipline and tribunals so that people could not be expelled at will without any evidence being put against them.

As a card carrying member of the British National Party you can make the difference. As we have reported elsewhere on this blog the BNP needs a change at the very top. Under the current Leader, Nick Griffin, the Party has stagnated and become a laughing stock. It has failed to make the headway we all rightly expect, especially in this extremely fertile political environment. Add to this the internal management troubles, the disastrous public own goals by a handful of discredited senior officials and the lack of transparency in financial accounting matters it is clear that the Party faces a crisis. However it is a crisis which can be overcome; it can be accomplished by electing a new Leader without the negative baggage which Griffin burdens the Party.

This article appeared yesterday in the Dewsbury Press. This revealing interview shows that Colin Auty as a highly articulate, passionate political figure who really cares about the people in his ward and his town. It also demonstrates that he has the respect of some political opponents of the BNP because he is a man of his word, who gets things done and has learned lessons from the gritty reality of being involved in local politics.

Those detractors of Cllr. Auty who state he cannot "cut the mustard" on handling the media would do well to rethink their unjustified claims. Colin is a man who can take the BNP forward to new heights of political success, a man who doesnt have the baggage which has saddled the BNP and prevented it from capitalising on the enormous potential that exists in the current political environment.

Painter and decorator and part-time BNP councillor Colin Auty shocked his party last week when announcing he would challenge Nick Griffin for the leadership. It's caused a rift in the local and national BNP, but does it signify high ambition from the candidate or frustration at a fading political movement? DANNY LOCKWOOD spoke to him.

On the Friday lunchtime, two years ago, when the returning officer for Kirklees Council announced Colin Auty as the duly elected BNP councillor for Dewsbury East in the main hall of the town's Sports Centre, there were various reactions.

Nick Cass and his hard core of BNP activists danced in jubilation: here was proof positive that their extremist party was inexorably on the rise. Or so they thought.

Eric Firth, the deposed long-serving Labour man, stood stunned, as grey as his beard. Colin Auty looked up at me, standing among the journalists on the sports hall balcony, with a bemused look on his face and shrugged his shoulders as though to say 'crikey, what next?'

Crikey indeed. The only leaflets Colin had distributed during his election 'campaign' had belonged to his Labour rival Firth. He'd found them so hilariously and (he thought) hypocritically targeted at working class parts of Chickenley, that he took Eric's leaflets and shoved them through letter boxes in the posher Bennett Lane area.

Three days after his election, Colin, dressed in his painter and decorator's overalls, stopped for a chat in Dewsbury town centre.

I told him I'd never painted him as a BNP type. He described how he'd got fed up of being the bloke at the end of the bar, moaning and complaining and doing nothing about it. How he was sickened at what was happening to the town of his birth, with his perceived 'British' way of life being diluted by the day, washed away down the Calder.

He spoke of a new breed of ordinary people flocking to the BNP flag. How even then, he found some of the party's hardliners 'distasteful'. (That probably wasn't quite the word he used in hindsight.)

Two years on lots of things have changed. Colin among them, though that's not an observation he might recognise. At the age of 57 he has found a new articulation; there's a confidence born of public speaking, though as a sometime musician he's always been comfortable on a stage. But there's also been a closer forming of his political convictions - and that's unfortunate for the British National Party, depending on how you care (or otherwise) for their fortunes.

Dewsbury was the "jewel in the BNP crown" as their adored/reviled leader Nick Griffin described it after the 2005 General Election, and the district was again the centrepiece of their march on Kirklees Council in 2006 when they polled almost 20,000 votes and boasted three councillors. But 2008 paints a very different totem.

The election results of just two weeks ago defined a political party in as much of a local decline as Labour was nationally.

Their group leader, David Exley, lost his Heckmondwicke seat to the clinically mobilised Labour vote. In Auty's own Dewsbury East ward any shenanigans involving the Tories fielding an Asian candidate failed to either dent Paul Kane's dominant position or rally voters to the BNP flag.

Their performance in Dewsbury South, where Thornhill has always been a stronghold without quite yielding a seat, summed up the BNP's declining fortunes. Their vote dropped by a third, as the Tories wiped the floor with all comers.

It was a result generally mirrored across Kirklees, and perhaps unsurprising given that the local party is in turmoil.

High profile boss Nick Cass has barely been seen since the execrable 'BNP Wives' documentary aired on national television - a massive embarrassment to the party, with Cass and his pretty wife Suzy front and centre.

There is a schism generally between the new generation of moderates and, not to put too fine a description on it, the 'Paki haters'. It translates onto the national BNP stage with Colin Auty fronting up the moderate BNP membership's assault on the hardliners, challenging Nick Griffin for the party leadership.

Is he serious? A two-year councillor, a BNP member for only five years? Best known for writing an insulting ditty about Saville Town and performing it outside MP Shahid Malik's office in Daisy Hill?

Colin is pragmatic about his challenge:

"I don't think I will be allowed to win. I won't be allowed to address party meetings. I've had one cancel already and I was only going along with my guitar to sing a song.

His challenge has certainly ruffled feathers across the BNP. Their national election officer, Eddie Butler, has said members should refuse to sign Auty's nomination, describing his challenge as "pitiful and moronic", him as a "joke candidate" and saying that if a leadership challenge must be staged it should be "quickly, quietly and with no publicity".

So much for good old British democracy, but then again democracy has very little to do with the British National Party's traditional way of doing things. And that is why Colin Auty has chosen a bloody collision course and may or may not have a future in the party by the end of the summer.

The BNP leader, Nick Griffin, has an advisory panel but can override them. He has a virtual dictatorship - which the BNP's many critics will nod sagely at. Ring any 1930-ish bells?

"I will not follow a dictatorship," said Cllr Auty. "I don't want to see the party accountable to one man. I want to see the one man answerable to the party."

At a meeting in Leeds a few months ago, Griffin called BNP councillor Chris Beverley "vermin". Beverley, like Auty, is one of the new breed of BNP members calling for a more reasoned approach to politics.

"I find that abhorrent," Auty continues. "Just because the man is a moderate who wants to promote change? He is called vermin by his own party leader?

"I'm a councillor. I've stood in the firing line. I know what it's like to have the spears chucked at me. Nick Griffin comes out of his fort in mid-Wales to preach to the faithful every now and again.

"People see the media dwelling on the negatives, and it all surrounds people like Nick Griffin and Mark Collett.

"My voters say to me 'it's the image'. Nick Griffin is causing the stagnation of the party, with his holocaust denial, saying Islam is a wicked religion. It stops people voting for people like me and David Exley."

It would be interesting to hear Griffin's view of Colin Auty enjoying hospitality in the homes of Muslim politicians. To hear Colin describing how he gives respect to Labour councillor Shabir Pandor, the Lib Dems' Karam Hussain, the Tories Mohammed Mahroof and Khizar Iqbal - and they him.

"They are all due my respect. Everyone is worth respect. I never hurt and I never hate. I sail through life and I try to have a pleasant attitude to things."

It's ironic that the most hate and bile he has endured has been from white politicians. At the election count a fortnight ago a senior Labour figure threatened to punch his lights out - and got a real surprise when his bluff was called. There's not much fear flowing in Auty's veins. But then again like so many of his generation, he grew up in the school of hard knocks. Bullying, and attempts at it, receive short shrift.

The Kirklees Council learning curve has been steep.

"I remember my first time at a planning meeting. It was like the first day at a new school. I was sat on the bus on my own."

But it wasn't all cold shoulder. One councillor came up and offered him a sweet.

"Some individuals have managed to separate the badge from the person. They see that I'm a moderate kind of guy. They don't see me as a Nick Griffin type. I don't live in a fort, and only come out surrounded by bodyguards wearing shades."

After two years the experience of being a councillor has witnessed changes to the way he sees both politics and his party - though not his town, or his own beliefs.

"I've never been afraid of losing votes or even my council badge over what I say. This just gave me a chance to give a voice to the average people I meet on the street. But I don't have to hold onto the 'voice', because I really don't have any personal ambition at all.

"It seems to have created a vacuum for me though, in so much as although people are listening and agreeing and saying 'that's right Colin' and 'we agree with you Colin', they aren't necessarily behind me. It doesn't show itself in the vote. And I end up feeling a lone voice.

"Some people vote for me, but others cannot because of the image of the BNP. I'm trying to sell a new car with a scratched bonnet.

"My attitude has changed towards the BNP. It's changed locally as well because you get a better insight when you are involved within the council. You see issues differently on the inside.

"It's about power - the council. It's certainly not about people. Whether it's the parties or the individual politicians whatever they believe is right and just, they would relinquish it for a vote. That's probably my naivete, but I could not tell someone something wrong or go against what I believe, just to further my own ends. There aren't enough people out there telling it like it is.

"I got into politics to do something, achieve something. To see issues addressed, issues debated honestly, and then a positive outcome. That's not the reality, I'm afraid."

He enjoys to healthy debate of the closed room, trying to get things done for the district.

"But it's not the same in public. In a non-public arena we will get more people willing to talk. Once in public they feel the (BNP) badge comes to the fore and they are tainted if they at all acquaint themselves with me."

He speaks bitterly of credit for his work being claimed by political rivals, of seeing his contributions to local stories edited out of the Dewsbury Reporter, of local projects being schemed to suit political ends. But beyond that he gets great satisfaction out of simply being an effective ward councillor. "I like helping people, and you get to help lots of people in this job. Isn't that what it's about? It should be."

For now Colin Auty's political future is defined starkly by the next two months, when the BNP will be expected to stage manage the cursory dismissal of his leadership challenge. He knows that, but hopes his effort might begin a process of democratic change within the party. He is guarded about what the outcome will mean to him personally.

Certainly the way feral elements of the local BNP have turned on him have left a mark that won't be soon forgotten. Steve Cass, father of Nick, a regular Press letter writer and very much a Griffin acolyte, has been violently insulting of Colin Auty's leadership challenge.

But the core beliefs of the bloke no longer just moaning at the end of the bar endure still.

"Our children's children have to have a country that they can call their own. If you're from Hungary or Pakistan you can go back to your roots and they are there, your culture and heritage and traditions. But we are eradicating our own heritage, our own children's heritage, to accomodate all these people. It is sheer madness and there isn't another nation on earth would do it.

"Wherever they come to this country from, they still have their history and roots. And we won't have any in 20 or 30 years. That's a good enough reason in itself for me to stand as a politician, all by itself. To fight for our children's right to have a country still theirs.

"It's not because you don't like the colour of someone's skin or their religion. It's because they have their culture guaranteed and we have a country of white politicians trying to give away ours."

And after the Griffin challenge?

"I'll face that when I come to it. I'm stuck between the left-wing elements of the established parties and the right wing of the BNP, but I'm straight down the middle. And I think that's where the people are."

A large amount of observations have been made recently regarding the lack of freedom within the British National Party. It is a subject of discussion that has grown rapidly over the last year; somewhat ironically ever since the Party Chairman, Nick Griffin and Mark Collett walked free from Leeds Crown Court for the second time to cheers of ‘Freedom, freedom!’ From the doting crowd outside.

So what is 'freedom' exactly?
Well according to the Oxford Dictionary it breaks down as follows –

• noun 1 the power or right to act, speak, or think freely. 2 the state of being free. 3 (freedom from) exemption or immunity from. 4 unrestricted use of something: the dog had the freedom of the house. 5 a special privilege or right of access, especially that of full citizenship of a particular city given to a public figure as an honour.

For many hundreds of years our people have spilt their blood on the soil so we today can enjoy relative freedom of expression and movement. I say relative, because as we know, we now live in a surveillance society, with the Establishment now seeking to hold every single persons DNA on file from birth, with all of us having to carry identification cards on our person at all times. It is a very worrying development as I am sure everyone, regardless of political inclination, religion or race would agree with.

We already know who we are

Once again, I know I speak for the majority when I say that I know that I do not need to have my face on a TV monitor somewhere, as I already know who I am.

I do not need my DNA held on file, as I know where it has come from.

I do not need to carry an ID card, as I know I already belong to the ground I walk on in this country of ours.

These infringements on our birthrights are not only a terrible insult to our fallen that paid the ultimate sacrifice to uphold our freedom, they serve as a warning that we cannot as a people continue to squander our freedom with such dispassion as we are currently.

Nothing is for free, freedom itself is no different. Every word, every thought and every step has been paid for by the blood of some young solder in some far-flung long forgotten dusty battlefield.

Consumerism without consequence?

Although it will be an intense struggle, with a population brimful, commercialised and brainwashed into mass-consumers; hope can still be found. That hope I predict will only show itself as viable once the lie of mass-consumerism without consequence, has been blown apart.

Recession, our saviour?

The impending financial recession that we now all face, could in fact be our saving-grace. When a population that can no longer afford to drown itself every Friday night, eat what it wants when it wants, or drive expensive cars, or look forward to jetting off south to get baked twice a year; people will start to ask questions.

It will take a considerable amount of factors to shake people into finally realising that for a great many years they have been lied to and fed opiates to remain asleep. Football, booze, television and cheap, easy and abundant gratification. None of these lead to happiness or fulfilment in the long term, but regardless, the less people have to spend on them, the less the opium will function because people will perceive that they will no longer have ready access to the things that satisfied them before. At this point, people will believe that their ‘freedom’ has been taken away. Once the blinkers have been removed an increasing number of people will come to realise what freedom actually means as they gain perspective. As we have stated on previous articles, this void, this ‘political orchard’ will then be fully ripe for democratic autonomy.

Unfit for purpose

However, there are serious conclusive facts that the British National Party currently is not, and will not allow freedom of speech or democracy within it under the present leadership. Therefore any opportunity to fight for our rightful place in this void that our failing political masters have created with their catastrophic leadership, will also fail. It will fail because we would have simply become a mirror image of what we seek to replace.

Many shocking revelations continue to expand these worries, unconstitional expulsions, slanderous accusations and blind ignorance from the very top of the Party leadership are ruining our opportunity to grasp this one chance we will have.

Read and digest

We will now ask our readers to study the following circular which has been sent out by the Party’s current national elections officer at the behest of the Party chairman.

We ask you to consider whether you believe that these are the words and actions of a leadership that truly embraces freedom and democracy, or whether a major change is needed if we are to survive and prosper as a Party.

Statement on the so-called Leadership challenge

Anyone in the Party who has more than five years continuous membership has the Right to stand for the leadership of the Party. The only limit to the exercising of this Right is that in the case of officers ten nomination signatures of members of two years standing must be obtained and for non officers a hundred signatures are required. This is to ensure that frivolous candidates do not stand.

As I said this is a Right that members have. And it is an important Right – it is a declaration of our Parties openness and commitment to democracy. However with Rights come responsibilities and duties. A Right without a duty is an abomination in any society. It is a recipe for chaos. Indeed in our modern society it is the incessant claiming of Rights by groups that shown no sense of duty or responsibility that is one of the key components of the undermining of the civic order of our country.

So in the instance of standing for leadership of the Party, the Party as a whole should expect anyone who has the temerity to wish to stand for leadership only to uphold their Right to do so after that person had carefully weighed their duty to the cause and the Party and their fellow members. We as members should expect that a candidate would only put themselves forward if they were of sufficient stature and ability to potentially be able to lead the Party if they were to win. Otherwise why would someone wish to challenge for the leadership? It is a duty of other members not to sign the nomination papers of any potential candidate unless they seriously think that that person is a viable and serious leadership contender. That is the whole point of the requirement for signatories.

A leadership challenge is not an excuse to air grievances. It is not there for disgruntled people to act out their personal bitterness about things – no matter how ‘justified’ they may think their grievances are. It is an abuse of the process to misuse it in that way. It is an abuse of their Constitutional Right.

And that is precisely what we are seeing this year. We are seeing a candidate pushed forward by people who themselves admit, has absolutely no chance of winning, and admit would never be up to the job of chairman anyway and they admit that the sole reason they are doing iti s to air their own personal grievances. In other words their sole aim is to raise issues which have already been fully aired and which could be raised at a variety of different forums such as the Summer School (where there is always a session for all participants where they can bring up matters they are unhappy about) or the Annual Conference.

What is the likely outcome of this leadership challenge? The challengers (there may in fact be two!) will be comprehensively defeated. The leadership challenge process as it currently stands in the Constitution will be brought into disrepute. There will be pressure, perhaps unstoppable pressure, to change the rules so that leadership challenges can only take place every four years.

I would not normally comment on a leadership election. It should normally be up to the membership to make their own minds up without non-participants trying to influence the process.

But the backers of this ridiculous bid should reconsider their aimless tactic. People should refuse to sign the nomination papers. It is a distraction and a waste of time and effort and it will end up almost certainly with the constitution changed in a way that destroys the important Right of the possibility of a yearly election. Standing a no-hoper is stupid, mindless and fatally undermines our Constitution. It is a pitiful and moronic – a bankrupt tactic by people who can only be described as having gone giddy to the extent that they are now without the imagination to think how they can raise issues in alegitimate way.

This election, if it goes ahead, should be carried out in the most rapid manner possible with zero publicity allowed for the joke candidate (who may in lother circumstances be described as a decent and 'nice' bloke etc) and the least disruption to our continued efforts. That is the best way to minimise the harmful effects.

As a member of the British National Party, you will still have freedom of choice in this years leadership election.

A time for focus - how can our Party become greater?

A great deal has already been written and spoken about this years Leadership Challenge, and the overall effects it will have or could have on the British National Party.

There have been a great many indicators to suggest that the swell of members and supporters that back this challenge, are growing daily.
One such indicator which stands out amongst many, is the reaction from the current chairman and a few close officials around him that believe that their positions may come under threat from the potential of an open and more accountable chairmanship.

Accountability needed

With a new and wholesome leadership put in place, accountability will become the pivot from which all positive changes will be made to the British National Party.
Full, fair and ethical accountability cannot and will not be found anywhere were corruption has been allowed to cultivate freely.

We only need to study the Establishment of Lib-Lab-Con, anywhere from the council chambers across the country to the House of Parliament and the European Parliament, in order to realise that large-scale deception and lies, are always followed by destruction in one form or another. Under such a yoke, as we all know, it is those of us without a voice and sway that always pay heavily for the privileges and treachery of the greedy and the sycophantic that know exactly in whose pocket the buttered-bread can be found.

Do we as nationalists allow ourselves to be convinced, that it is only the fault of those that seek to destroy the British National Party such as Marxists, the mass-media and the Labour Party etc, that we have not made any major political breakthroughs into Parliament or Europe?

How easy is it to pin blame elsewhere instead of looking at ourselves in the mirror for a full and honest explanation?

If we remain as political amateurs, our cause is lost

We all know in our heart of hearts, that any party that is impotent and ill-equipped, will simply not be able to seize an opportunity should such a prospect for a major election breakthrough present itself in the future.

As a Party we currently have no cabinet whatsoever; we have no waiting shadow ministers or department heads able to accurately observe and articulate comment on current affairs that fall within their sphere of expertise.

There is no accountability within the various branches and groups that often operate outside of Party policy, sometimes ending in terrible embarrassment for us.
Quite unbelievably, there is the total lack of any criteria whatsoever for candidates that wish to stand in elections that represent the Party in the eyes of the British electorate.

Our shining lights

Many times our prospective candidates and actual elected councillors have let us all down terribly, and on investigation it has transpired that they had little idea at all about what we as Party represent and didn’t even have the most rudimentary knowledge of the Party manifesto! The fault of such incompetence lay squarely on the shoulders of the Party organisation, or lack of, which leads to these Party own-goals. Inexperienced Party activists, that act only with the best of intentions cannot be held responsible.

The loose, almost anarchical state of general disorganisation within the Party election machinery, creates for itself stumbling blocks. After all, how can we expect the British people to trust in something that fails to prove itself truly different from the negative media image of our Party as being inept and disorganised? When we hand it on a plate to the media, they are hardly likely to turn them down. This is far more than just the argument of us ridding the Party of DM boots and shaven heads. This has now been achieved and it must be said, aided largely by Mr Griffin.

We need to expand this thinking now into real politics and earning respect within the eyes of the British people and consolidate our best and most viable vote areas. It can be done; we already have had some outstanding shining lights. Councillors such as Colin, Rod Law, Sadie Graham (suspended), Chris Beverley, Len Starr, Sharon Wilkinson, have all worked ceaselessly hard under the most hostile of circumstances for the benefit of their electorate and the Party as a whole. Such people deserve far better.

The rule of one man

The situation is thus, the Party is ruled by one man. He is a man that effectively makes every important decision by himself in every area, from finance, to staff recruitment and the appointing of people into positions of responsibility. From national media interviews and national events through to disciplinary ‘procedures’ and fund-raising; he has the final say on absolutely everything.

Advisory Council – toothless and powerless

Some members and supporters are under the impression that the Party’s Advisory Council is in place to ensure that authority within the Party is shared among the various department heads and regions; however this not the case. When the Advisory Council actually does meet, which is rather sporadically, the meeting itself is not an open discussion about how to take the party forward.

Accurate meeting minutes are not taken, actions are never accounted for or followed up, and all financial matters are refused discussion outright.

The AC should be transformed into a sitting body, an 'Executive’ that runs the affairs of the Party. Full reports should be put forward to this new Executive and no person that sits on it should be a paid member of Party staff. This new model would be an extremely essential cog in the Party machinery. Our new Executive should be made up of elected representatives from the different regions, elected by the members of those regions. All department heads, financial department, the Party Manager and the Party Chairman would all be accountable to this regionally elected Executive body.
The present AC is simply nothing except a toothless and powerless paper-tiger.

Elections first – leadership challenges second

There is currently an array of tactics being used, both inside and outside of nationalist circles, to try and disparage this year’s democratic leadership challenge. This attempt to slander and smear Mr Auty’s challenge is ranging from misinformation to outright lies.

One such lie is that this year’s leadership challenge has been arranged by hostile elements, intent in scuppering our Party’s chances in the 2009 European elections, as well as attempting to stop Richard Barnbrook successfully winning his seat on the GLA along the way.

Such nonsense can easily be countered when we consider that Colin and his team purposefully ensured two important factors where adhered to prior to lunching the challenge.

Firstly, that any challenge for leadership must only take place after the 2008 elections, as energy from the Party membership must not be diverted away onto any domestic issues that could potentially waste recourses and harm campaigns.

Secondly, Colin and his supporters have time and time again promoted and supported all our Party candidates in their various elections around the country, including Richard’s in the London campaign.

These are not the actions of ‘splitters’ or people seeking to sabotage or ‘derail’ the Party. They are simply the actions of Party members and supporters that seek to save the Party from the hands of a person that does not deserve to treat it as a personal play-thing. Colin’s supporters feature largely among the thousands of activists that distributed hundreds of thousands of pieces of Party literature this year and canvassed many homes. These are the people that are able, and should be allowed to choose a leader who actually listens to them with an open mind, instead of that leader abusing his position, by acts such as re-writing the Party’s constitution to fit himself and cater for his impulses.

All of us are corruptible!

Every single human being on the planet has the potential to become corrupted in some way or another. It is built into our genetic make-up and we cannot escape the fact regardless to how pure and ingenuous we regard our intentions and beliefs.

Democracies are put in place in order to remove the risks of one person abusing a position of power for his or her own ends. This works even if a leaders original motives were sound at the outset. Of course democracy itself is largely a charade in most ‘free’ countries today and it is often abused and harassed until it becomes every bit as corrupt as despotism itself. There are endless examples of this happening throughout history right up to this very day. There is no great revelation in this, but when one seeks a path through such a mire with hope of something better and decent for their families and themselves, the vehicle we choose must be greater than the sum of its parts if it is to succeed.

Within our Party, freedom of expression, choice and initiatives must be fully investigated, challenged, exercised and nurtured by the membership if we are to truly offer the other side of the coin to the British people.

The temptation of corruption will always remain, however it must be disabled entirely from ever being able to be exercised by any leader of a truly democratic Party.
A new Party structure must run all the way from the newest Party member with their first membership card; to the Party leader themselves with no exceptions and with full answerability.

No one person within our Party should ever again be able to stifle the voice of the member stood next to him, regardless to how important to the Party that person believes themselves to be.

The Party chairman must never again be allowed to gag people – [for telling the truth].

This is an urgent message regarding this internet blog.

This blog is here to introduce leadership challenger Councillor Colin Auty. It is here to explain what Cllr Auty intends to do if he wins, and why it is that people should vote for Cllr Auty.

Despite it being obvious that there is a lot of anti-Nick Griffin sentiment out there in the British National Party at present, this blog will not be used to personally attack either Nick Griffin or anyone else within the current BNP Leadership. There are many forums and websites that people can go to in order to express their feelings, if the feelings are overtly negative. However, we are hoping for a fair and balanced election, and we thus expect all leadership challengers to be decent with one another and not to resort to name-calling and mud-slinging. To this end, we are only going to focus on positive things, and we will only publish comments that are either positive or offer constructive criticism.

We will not tolerate bad language being used, and we want to use facts not rumours. Only comments that are accompanied by a full name will be allowed – there will be no more anonymous posts. Thanks to all who have submitted positive posts so far, though if they are anonymous then please re-post them in your name as all current anonymous posts will be pulled by 5pm today.

Colin is seeking to be a voice of reconciliation, a voice of unity at a time when the BNP is splintered, and a voice of progression while the BNP is stagnating.

A year on from last year's leadership challenge, lessons learnt, and why we must support Colin Auty

Last year, much to his dismay, Mr Nick Griffin’s grip on the chairmanship of the British National Party was openly challenged.

It was challenged by an honourable and sound nationalist, Chris Jackson. Chris achieved 9% of the total vote cast, which was less than half of the BNP membership that were all eligible to vote; we can say this was a poor turnout for an internal/domestic election. The election itself, needless to say, was orchestrated and arranged entirely by Mr Griffin. Even less surprisingly were the rules and methods used and dictated by him throughout, that would have brought shame on a banana-republic.

Chris Jackson – Denied and silenced

Chris was denied his constitutional right to a fair and just election. If he had been granted the three months of campaign time which a great many members believed to be a reasonable period, he would have travelled to the various groups and branches around the UK articulating his policies and answering questions that the membership had the right to ask, as one of their prospective choices. Quite unbelievably, the Party constitution had been redrafted by Mr Griffin so the chairman alone has the divine right to decide the date of any leadership challenge election date; Chris was given just three weeks.

Chris was also denied any access to the Party website, publications, and he and his election team were described as ‘vermin’. That same insult was then used to describe all the Party members that had signed Chris’s nomination paperwork enabling him to stand as challenger. Their ‘crime’ was simply seeking to uphold the right for any member that met the criteria, to challenge and exercise his or her voice of freedom.

True Party freedom now desperately needed

Under the circumstances the 337 votes that Chris polled, although tiny on paper, was in reality very impressive; especially as the vast majority of the Party membership had been denied the opportunity to even know that Chris existed let alone actually get to meet and speak to him! Not only was Chris denied his right as a member of the British National Party, so was every other member. This is a shocking revelation when we, as a Party seek the return of full freedom of speech and expression in Great Britain, as one of our number one policies and priorities. Our primary Party publication is even named as such in order to press home and continually remind our members and supporters of its crucial importance. These acts of hypocrisy must never be allowed to take place within our Party. We owe it to ourselves and the endless thousands of soldiers and civilians that have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of British freedom over a great many years.

Lessons Learnt

The lessons on how last years challenge was corrupted, have not been wasted. Cllr Auty and his campaign team have paid careful attention, and this year’s campaign will promise to be a considerably more unprejudiced affair for a number of reasons.

Firstly, Cllr Auty, for those that do not know, is the primary musician and song writer for the Party and Great White Records. Colin’s music has directly generated a large amount of funds through the sale of his exceedingly popular and well written ‘Truth Hurts’ CD. He also featured predominantly on the ‘West Wind’ CD, and has played at many fundraising events and national Party festivals such as the Red, White & Blue.

Secondly, Colin is well respected within the Party membership, he is experienced in genuine political affairs as he is a hard working and conscientious district councillor. Put simply, Colin brings to this leadership challenge a wealth of experience that the current leader simply has never had or likely to have, and many Party members will come to realise this during the campaign that will now follow.

Thirdly, the support and campaign team behind Colin will ensure that he is supported where and when he needs it; his activist team will not sit back and allow an unfair and unjust challenge. Colin is an excellent candidate that is standing and representing a growing swell of current Party members, activists and officials, as well as many ex-members that have been unconstitutionally expelled. Such people include high profile and well respected ex-members that Mr Griffin found fit to ‘purge’ from the Party as he perceived them a possible threat. All these people share the same deep suspicions and fears as to the path the Party will take unless major reforms and changes are made, and a new formalised and professional structure put in place.

Fertile ground just waiting for us

It must also be considered that gauging from the performance and percentage of the BNP vote in these latest set of elections, that include some worthy victories, the potential to make major breakthroughs across the country is simply not being exploited as it should. The electorate are very angry with the Establishment and crying out to be given the right encouragement and motivation to vote for us, yet time and time again the opportunity goes begging and we do not convert this energy into clever and astute active politics which will ultimately lead to large-scale election wins.

The Labour Party have been absolutely trounced in this years elections, they lost a staggering 9 councils and 298 councillors; and bloody good riddance to them as well. However, the Tories made huge gains in many places; so the Establishment bubble has in reality simply been pressed and forced across to a different part of that very same Establishment!
A great many of these gains could have easily been ours had we campaigned to make ourselves a truly viable alternative in the eyes of the British people. We should not underestimate the potential we have as a national political alternative, but we will only be able to exploit it if we have in place a reputable leadership, clean and free from corruption.

Griffin scores own goals – our Party suffers

I am in no way taking anything away from the hard fought victories that the Party activists achieved this year, on the contrary, a great many members and activists worked extremely hard as they always do come rain or shine; they all deserve a huge amount of respect from every one of us. However, we have to face up to the reality of the situation, and that situation is that we will never in a hundred years make any significant dent whatsoever in the Establishment of Lib-Lab-Con by only making a few local gains here and there once a year. If there is one luxury we do not have, it is time.

No amount of positive thinking and blind optimism will rid this country of the Establishment traitors nestled comfortably in positions of power as MP’s and MEP’s! The uncomfortable truth is that these 2008 elections for us as a national Party could frankly be best described as somewhere between fair and lacklustre. They were simply not good enough.

Own goal example number 1

Mr Griffin and the Party Press Officer, described the Party’s recent internal failings and large scale unconstitutional ‘purges’ to the national media as ‘ridding the Party of Nazi cranks’ or ‘Expelling left-wing extremists’!

Griffin’s appointed Party legal advisor or ‘legal beagle’ has for many years been openly displaying serious signs of psychologically disturbed behaviour, clumsily combined with the vilest language used to attack various people and Party members. Such attacks and conduct are increasingly turning the Party into a laughing stock across the entire internet, much to the delight of a great many of our political enemies that use such buffoonery in their leaflets to attack us at election time.

These two chosen examples were taken from a long and growing list. They serve us with a mere glimpse into the disarray that Mr Griffin has sown as part of a plan to maintain power.

Our GLA win

As I stood watching and listening to the sickening bile that the London mayoral campaign winner Boris Johnson poured forth while describing the wonderful IRA/Islamic terrorist supporter Ken Livingstone, it really brought home to me just what a huge task we have in front of us. Incidentally, the only single candidate that did not clap and applaud Livingstone as Johnson described his wonderful ‘achievements’ over the last eight years, was our man and newly elected GLA member, Richard Barnbrook. His GLA seat win was for me the highlight of this years elections and I wish him the very best of British luck. Yet again however, had it not been for the proportional representation system of the GLA, Richard would have never even got close with the 5.3% vote that he attained.

We must be different!

Our candidates can truly be different and a world apart from the Establishment crooks and can achieve so much more, only if they are afforded the potential to win with professional direction, shrewd and incisive organisation and continuing modernisation from the very top of the Party. While operating under the current Chairman, as has been proven in the past, this is simply impossible.

We as a Party have hit a glass ceiling in the last four years, and the political baggage, criminal record, corruption, outdated politicking and shock-tactic headline gimmickry that is favoured by the current leadership, will hold us in the margins of British politics for evermore as our country slowly sinks.

It is time for all of us now to ask ourselves honestly how we as members of the British National Party should vote in this year’s Leadership Challenge. If we truly seek to build and secure a positive viable future for the ones we love, there can be only one answer.

Leadership Challenge 2008

We are all aware that under Nick Griffin the British National Party has made some positive inroads into local politics. However, many Party officials and members have realised that the time has come for a fresh and democratic structure.

Change is needed to take the British National Party forward onto serious electoral success. A structure that will give priority to making sure that the BNP is financially solvent, politically astute, credible and electable, truly represents family values in everything that it does and maintains democratic management of the Party in a fair and transparent manner.

Councillor Colin Auty will be standing this coming summer as the leadership contender representing reform and change of the BNP. Colin was elected as a District Councillor onto Kirklees Council back in May 2006 and has proved to be an extremely hard working BNP Councillor.

Colin is married with two daughters and believes that the time is right for important changes to be made within the British National Party for it to become a serious challenger in elections and for the future of this country.

Colin has gained a great deal of experience into the inner workings of a local council, especially as he currently sits on various committees including Planning and Health.

Many of you will know Colin through his involvement in Great White Records and his latest album ‘Truth Hurts’ has sold more copies than any other artist from GWR. Colin is a very well respected and popular councillor, activist and artist within the BNP. He regularly tours the country speaking at meetings and singing to help groups raise vital funds.

Constitutional Change & Internal Reforms

The BNP at present has a great deal of potential which is simply not utilised to its full extent and this is largely because the current leadership runs the party in a very dictatorial manner. These are just some of the reforms that should be implemented:

* The Party Chairman should deal with the political affairs of the Party, but a separately appointed Party Manager should manage the internal affairs.

* Scrutiny Panel of regionally elected officials to scrutinise the inner workings of the Party, who everyone is accountable to.

* The establishment of an Executive, Judiciary and Political Wing of the Party.

* A Shadow Cabinet to set up specialist policy departments.

* A Working Party to be set up to scrutinise and re-draft the BNP Constitution which at present gives sole power and control to the Party Chairman.

* Total financial overhaul of the Party, reallocating the power of the National Treasurer to a professional chartered accountant.

* All office holders should be made fully accountable.

* Far more support for all of our Councillors.

* A review of all those expelled due to lack of a fair and proper disciplinary procedure being in place.

* A concerted effort to target the seriously damaging negative image that surrounds the BNP.
